I confess, im in love with frying fresh shrooms. I had a couple of ochra fruits (~16g fresh) maturing way before the rest of the flush. So I cooked it up in some butter, garlic, shredded carrot, jalapeños and topped it up with spring onions.

The taste was dare I say delicous and no discomfort after eating it whatsoever. My favorite way of consuming so far. The only thing pulling down the taste was that I used a bit too much butter

Absolutely, brother! I’m totally down for getting together with many of the people here in the org. For a drink, to see a show, watch a snake charmer, go camping and eat a handful of shrooms while sitting around a fire….sounds great to me. Like-minded people with different backgrounds and experiences, likely getting along swimmingly. I’ve always been a student of other people and I’m fascinated by learning about people’s lives and what makes them tick. Hippie, I’m looking forward to it whenever it happens.

I think I’m done ranting about obviously annoying members here. There are just too many awesome ones to learn from, potentially teach (as a rookie, I limit my advice), or just bullshit about music, life, or whatever bullshit is on the news. Even when there are spats here, they are mostly like two siblings acting out at the thanksgiving table.

Too much life to live to waste it on trolls of any kind, internet or not.

Peace to you all, fam.

+1 on a friendly meetup sometime!

Wow, that sucks. I'm really sorry you're going through that.

The thing is, I see that dilemma from another angle- One I'm sure you've considered, as well.

If you are unable to provide her with a place to stay that also enforces zero tolerance for her drinking, then what are you really doing by shielding her from homelessness? People at this point in the disease always push the boundaries of what constitutes basic care and what constitutes enabling.

I also read Puff's post at like 3:00 this morning.

It is definitely a hard situation Puff, but it's not your choice really.  You share a home with two other people that would be impacted by your mom.

It wouldn't be fair to them or you.

It sucks that your mom struggles with addiction, but she can only get help if she wants it.  And you are not in a position to give her the help she needs.

Either way, I'm sorry that you are going through this. I have an older brother that has struggled with alcoholism, and it's hard.  Because I love him and I already mourned him, many years ago.

This. Though it's 100% understandable that logic alone will not dictate such a situation. I feel for you, Puff. 🫂

That's a tough situation but there is absolutely no doubt you are doing the right thing puff :mushroom2: you saying no still comes from a really good place. Sometimes people need to hit the bottom to start actually making change. If not then, it's matter of personal preference. Addiction is such a difficult disease, wishing nothing but the best for you and your family friend.

Good on you for maintaining boundaries

Puff, I really feel for you.  Such a tough situation.  I agree that you have to make the tough choice to prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of your family, and I also respect how difficult that's going to be and how much conflict it's going to cause, given your sense of loyalty to your mom.  Being in the orbit of someone struggle with addiction and sobriety can be so terribly exhausting and confusing.  Guilt-inducing, infuriating, devastating.  Ultimately, that individual who is struggling has to be the one to choose help, health, and recovery.  No matter how much love and support we offer, if they don't pick up what we and others put down, there can be no healing.

Sending you supportive thoughts.

Srry puff thats rough.

I kno All Too Well about all of that. With family members extremely close to me and myself.

The one thing I can actually say now that I'm on the other side almost 14 years clean from heroin and  Everything else  except Weed and psychedelics.

I took advantage of my family constantly I was just as your are describing your mother. Except with  a different substance.

Alcohol can be really bad too. trust me I know. so I really feel for you.

I've had one brother and two uncles slowly die over decades from alcoholism.

Anyways.  Tdlr.

I'm a True Believer of tough love. It took a long time but when my family started actually exercising tough love against me.  it worked.

And now for the long part. Lol

It didn't instantly work but after a certain amount of time you start feeling it for real.

and you start feeling like holy shit I'm really alone and these people are no longer going to be there for me if I'm not willing to put in any effort at all.

The feeling of getting the cold shoulder from everybody constantly.

The entire family getting together for fun and leaving you out intentionally.

Walking in to say hi to my mom and her just glancing over at me only to roll eyes and continue on with what she's doing.

Feeling truly alone And no longer supported at all.

For a year or two  though it didn't work.

I just continued to victimize myself and blame them. But eventually I realized they weren't going to budge and the only way to get them back was to get myself back.

And that's exactly what I did and ever since then I've maintained that situation.

So my vote is for tough love.  Let your mother know how much you care about her but how much you cannot support her. Not only destroying herself but your family As well - collateral damage.

And you know you will still always be there when it matters most. You know if she calls having an emergency that's life-threatening or something it's not like you're going to ignore her.

But all of the rest of the everyday stuff that she gets away with and uses against y'all. NO MORE of that..

Even though you are grown.. you are still her child in this situation.

And it is her obligation to take care of you.

And in that sense you have a child and a wife and it is your obligation to take care of them.

Give her some time to feel like what it actually feels like To be homeless.

because There are tons of people out there who don't have somebody like you to pick them up And save them from it..

I was on the streets for three and a half years.. all of these experience shaped me and Made me want to change things on my own to get back to the life I previously had..

Unfortunately though this is not a win-all fix-all type of thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It did for me. I hope things work out for you and your family either way.

This is a RL confession.

I'm in a moral pickle, although I've already made my decision.

My mom is an alcoholic. She's been kicked out of an old age home three times. Been through rehab 4 times.

She's being evicted at the end of March because she drinks to the point she becomes a problem for the residents and staff.

Right now, she's in the same province as my brother, which has unfairly put the burden of her on him.

We both believe that she's putting no effort into staying at her place because she hopes to be moved in with us.

The last time she went to rehab she was planning to drink weeks before she graduated. She refuses any additional assistance with her drinking or health problems.

Now I'm left with a choice, do I let my mother go homeless or live with my wife and son? I'm a truck driver, so any abuse she puts out will be bared by my wife and son alone. My son has said clearly that he will move out if she moves in. That means my disabled wife will be left alone with my alcoholic mother with failing health, and that's not fair to her. My son will also have to move out before he's ready, which is exactly what my mom did to me

Now I'm left with the choice of maternal obligation vs what's best for my wife and son. I'm choosing my wife and son.

It would be different if my mom was attempting to improve things, but she's just as immature as when I was a teenager. This means I'm left with the son's guilt while knowing I'm doing the right thing for my family. It's a hard place to be in.

Brother, I know your pain. My family has been ravaged by alcoholism for generations. I grew up quick. Luckily my mom sobered up when I was 10. But I went to thousands of AA meetings with her and learned a lot. Then learned more when she sent me to rehab at 15 when I came home with beer on my breath.

Anyway, you are making the right decision. You cannot keep an alcoholic/addict from their consequences. This is known as enabling. While it sounds harsh, it's the only thing that can help them. They need to experience rock bottom. It needs to hurt as long as it takes to make them want something different.

So not only are you making the right choice, you should feel good about it for contributing to their recovery instead of their addiction.

If you need people to talk to, seek an Alanon group meeting.

If she begs you for help, give her the number for people in AA.

Good luck man, we love you.

Tonight's brew is especially exciting...

10.31g fresh Byron Bay, the first ever harvest of Panaeolus Cyanescens from scratch - super proud moment 💙💚:mushroom2: and then 50g fresh caps of the mutant, just shot off another 140g for 3rd flush and a shabby 4th half way in, which'll be it's last.

The Beatles yellow submarine movie will be up first for the cyan bumrush and then it'll be darkness and chant work with Satya sai baba's nag champa - my favourite, bury me with it!

Anyway I pray every eye that touches these writings goes with peace and love in their centres throughout this evening :mushroom2:

Last night my hedgehog died unexpectedly. It sucks.  I went in to check on him and just found him dead. I cried.

Looks like  microscopic quill mite infection that went unoticed for a while.

I feel really bad. Even though I know I took care of him very well. always kept him clean and everything.

These things can come from the wood shaving bedding that we get from the pet store apparently. That's one of the biggest concerns.

But for cleanliness and everything I had had recently over the past few months switched to it.

The  mites are pretty microscopic I mean you can see some of them to the naked eye but mostly you can't and they actually hide down inside the base of the quills and stuff like that so unless you happen to get lucky to see a random one roaming around where it shouldn't be..

that's almost impossible to know they're there until the animal dies and they leave The Heat Source.  Which is what happened.

I'm pretty certain this was the cause of his death as there were millions of them once they showed themselves.

However hedgehogs are known to have other life-threatening ailments. But this seems pretty obvious

I took this opportunity to teach my 11yr old son about death because it was his pet as well.

And I also taught him about how it's connected to life.

So we buried the little guy out in the garden and planted a flower above him.

Rip little Dexter.  "Point dexter"

Heres new life. in place of your death.
