I seem to recall someone else noting they got a bad batch a while back (which the company acknowledged and presumably replaced). Maybe fahtster? None of the ones I've sterilized have melted, knock on wood.

It was Fahtster. My memory is bad enough to impact my daily life, but I specifically remember him talking about the mix up. Thanks brain...real important shit you're latchin onto there...

Very clean!
I take it you cut out the viewing window and replaced with some clear plexy or polycarb? What did you use to cut the square out without cracking your tote?

Thanks! I used a piece of clear acrylic plexiglass cut to size (I scored the plexi with a razor and snapped it). I failed the first tote or two and ended up cracking it trying to cut out the window. I ended up taping the cut area with blue painters tape on both sides, drawing the cut area, drilled holes in each corner large enough for my jigsaw blade to fit in, then used a jigsaw with a light blade to cut the window out, this time wth no cracks. Then I sanded the tote and plexi edges, cleaned with iso, and used plastic glue adhesive, weights, and clear silicone to seal it in place.

Many cultivators find a viewing window unnecessary, but I was tired of not clearly being able to see the work I was doing in my tote even with a bright light, this helps alot!

Nice. So far I've been working in front of my box sitting but I wouldn't mind having a clear viewing window at eye level right in front of me on the sidewall. I might have to look into that sometime soon.

What do y'all think of these liquid culture jars I made?

I'm having a difficult time finding reverse thread caps to go on the luerlock so I can seal it. For now I'm gonna try this with a syringe twisted onto it lol.

I found these a while back, kinda pricey though.

may want to put a one-way check valve inline on that so it doesn’t suck open air back into the jar…cool setup!

My favorite upgrade so far this winter has been a steam table. A deep hotel pan will comfortably hold 6000+ grams of substrate with enough headspace to still be able to mix it up. I've been doing 4 shoeboxes at a time and it works great, the temp controller is a rheostat so just figure out where you want it and make a mark with a sharpie. I don't think I've seen anyone else use one so figured I'd share my results. You'll never use an oven again, wet heat is the best for bulk substrate
