I was gifted some of the 60mm reusable plates last Xmas season. I had 500, so I'm just getting around to needing to sterilize a new round of these. I must've ended up with the wrong ones. Now I have an abstract sculpture!

Is this oven or PC? I melted some in the oven, which was old and in a rental, so I assume it was hotter than I set it. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

This was in my AA 75x sterilizer for 20 mins. Ran it at 15psi and used the glass containers with paper towels around and on top the stack of dishes with a makeshift foil lid. My 90mm plates ran in the same cycle with no problems.

Sometimes with the 90mm plates, I've noticed I will lose 1 or 2 plates in a batch. But all the 60mm ones did this. I actually have 4 little plastic puddles like this that came out of this run.

Bummer man. Turns out they weren't reusable after all. Were they viabooth? Ive noticed the dimensions are slightly different and the bottom has a line around it if it's disposable.

I seem to recall someone else noting they got a bad batch a while back (which the company acknowledged and presumably replaced). Maybe fahtster? None of the ones I've sterilized have melted, knock on wood.

I remember when I steam-sterilized a silicone "reusable" bag. It barely survived the steam-sterilization process :lol:

This happened to me the other day. I don't have access to my glass pitris and I asked the vendor I get my previous poured plates from if their plastic plates hold up to sterilization. They were dead wrong I lost five plates lol.

Yeah, I'd have attempted a return but the box of 500 was a gift a whole Xmas ago. And the person who gifted them would probably have their feelings hurt if they knew they turned all melty.

They do have the line on them now that you mention it Thurman. They are the Viabooth ones. I like the 60mm size for water agar and cloning especially. It is really easy to drop a tiny little sliver of Pan tissue in there with forceps/hemostats or tweezers. but I may just get some more of the 90mm. I kind of wish there was a size in between the two.
