God is good... * 4

God is good all the time. God is Most Holy, God helps us to get through the day. Life can be incredibly hard but its worth living life to the best of your ability to feel satisfaction youve done all you can to make life better.

God gives us the free gift of salvation, so that no man can brag or boast, but all be content they receive a good portion.

The idea of God being good is called omni-benevolence, but how would you know if God was in fact good?

Hear me out on this: the God of the Bible is not always a great guy. He's jealous, he tells some groups of people to murder others, he punishes people, he gets angry enough to drown people and animals.

If I said that some person I knew was jealous, angry, supported the murder of some groups of people, and actually participated in some killings himself, would you think I was talking about a good person?

That which would be advised against is doing that which brings our suffering, and we are free to do that as well. What else would be?

God has full authority, including over life and death. He is not throwing hissy fits and tantrums and killing people. God is all wise and carefully considers whether to take life or not. God created everyone and everything, so God can take away life He has given.

God is only jealous of people worshipping false gods and idols. He wants people to come to Him, because He can give people the best portions. The life they were made to live, not lives straying from Him.

Have you read the wisdom and poetry section of the old testament?

Ecclesiastes tells us all human life is vapor, meaningless, vanity.

Proverbs tells us "there are many plans in a man's heart, but God directs his steps!" And much more on the difference between a wise man and a fool.

The song of songs expresses the love between a man and a women, or the symbolic expression between God's love for us.

Job tells us how Satan ("the accuser") makes bets on our righteousness with God, putting us through much suffering, in the end when Job gets his wish to question God face to face about his suffering he doesn't ask his questions but becomes humbled and stands in awe and reverence in his presence of God and listens, he doesn't get his questions answered, but he gets satisfaction, peace and enlightenment,,, God makes a point that it's him who created the world and runs it, we are of a very small stature to think we know how life should work. The measure of life is not man, it's measure is God.

The book of sirach is also good and so is the wisdom of Solomon, two books that should be included in the standard bible.

Not saying your conclusion of the God of the Bible is foolish, but to just isolate those intriguing parts is a sign of confirmation bias. there's a lot good about this God. I know in Isaiah he says something like "I created good and I created evil, as the heavens are far above the earth, so are my thoughts above man's."

I humbly admit I haven't read the whole Bible, but I'm a Christian, my faith is more than the Bible.

Human life is certainly not meaningless, the bible doesnt teach that. Lord Jesus died to save us, God sent his only begotten Son to die for us, who was and is perfect and Holy, to save us from our sins. We are also like ashes and dust, we are not to think highly of ourselves. Eccelesiastes basically says be content with little and serve God, basically everything else is vanity i think.

We can have a theology debate about what that book means but it's repeated and clarified by definition with examples and explanations while elaborated "vanity of vanities, everything is vanity",,, Jesus is not mentioned in the book once.

With Jesus, God became man so man can become God. Theologians debate endlessly with arguments and contradictions about the nature of God, man and the meaning of life and their relationship, while mystics all agree.
