I’m such a cheap bastard smh

Was gonna build my own pvc shelf for my shroom room because I can’t find the right dimensions for sale, but the price of the materials farrrr outweigh pre bought options.

Still kinda wanna do it and rig up my own Martha tent but it’d cost me $60-80 for the shit for my shelf when I can buy pre bought ones for $40 only issue is they’re metal so rust may be a issue like years from now.

Idk if I’m a cheap bastard or what but I feel like our economy is trashhhhhed. Chinese metal costs less than American plastic materials, not even fully assembled.

but ya i love tetras.  something about the way they move. they never get too far away from eachother but never too close either.  theyll spread out to cover the whole length of the tank, but still keep 2" between each one like they look out for eachother.  hive intelligence.  it occurs to me that the bright colors are how they keep an eye on eachother

i like danios too but well see what my gf wants to do. she named the snail "raymond".  good name.

I have a love hate relationship with my tanks. The hate comes when it’s time to clean them! 😂 My best advice is to stay in front of the cleaning. Don’t over do it with the fish and they are super easy to keep up.

You can put a few clear coats on the shelf before you use it and that will help with the rust prevention.

ya ahah i hear ya.  i once had like 12 tanks and not small tanks.  50s and 100s.  i had to reinforce the floor joists for all the water weight.  african cichlids mostly.  discus. pacus. oscars. one salt water tank with clowns and surgeons etc.  i was breeding making my own pete filters etc.

its wild how much i identify with this character.  but ya.  im keeping it simple this time.  10 gallons. a  handful of tetras and whatever my gf picks out.

I don't remember exactly what it was called but one time my mom got this little orange and black little eel thing that would go down into the gravel and eat algae and stuff. You would only see it like once on a full moon, but. It was such a cool little thing to see sneaking around down there. It also helped to keep the tank clean. I see you have a snail there. But this is more of a wait & see kind of fish.

I mentioned it because when I was growing up, we had a fish tank that had some neon Tetra and one of those in it.

I confess, I have a 2 x 2 filter fan unit that's just been sitting in my bedroom in a box. I don't have any desk to set it up with. I don't even really have outlets to set it up with. So it's just sat there. I think all my grains managed to get contaminated during the move as well. I was moving a lot of potted plants in the back and some dust must've contaminated them.
They all stopped consolidating at the same time.
Looks like I might be back at square one. Luckily I still have some dried out old plates.
