Hey nocap, just wondering... what's a water store? Like a store that sells exclusively water? That's some next-gen capitalist hellscape where a store like that can thrive

The tap water sucks here.  Literally no one drinks it.  Not even my pets or plants.  “Water & Ice” stores are commonplace for self-serve water jug filling.  Drinking water delivery services are also common if one can’t be faffed to self-fetch. Talking about 5 gallon jugs mostly.  Of course there are cases of bottled water at grocery stores, but I hate the plastic waste.

Edit - in addition to water and ice, they usually have ice cream, candy and other treats for sale.

Ahhhhkay I get it now. My work has jugs delivered and I know a lot of other people do as well but somehow it didn't occur to me that they have to come from somewhere. Blaming the heat, probably fried my brain a bit

Picked this up during the recent Father’s Day sales.  Capable of 50 gallons per day.
Wasn’t happy with the single tank volume and dispensation speed, so I added a second tank and upgraded the output and post-filter to accommodate 3/8” line.

Before:
Capacity - 3.2 gal
1 gallon dispense - 70 sec from full tank
5 gallon dispense - 38 minutes from full tank
Filling system from empty - 100 min
Emptying from full - 6 min

After:
Capacity - 6.4 gal
1 gallon dispense - 27 sec from full tanks
5 gallon dispense - 3 min 23 sec from full tanks
Filling system from empty - 200 min
Emptying from full - 5 min

I know, I know.. tap water is “fine”, but my municipal supply comes it at 930ppm, and this system brings that down to a drinkable and enjoyable 12ppm.  Bonus: no more trips to the water store!

This is really nice. I love the double tank. I had one setup in my old house I rented because our well water was so bad. Definitely reduced the ppm to 15.

My newest tool : Amazon FFU - 22.4"x22.4" H14 Filter

After nearly 20 years of using a SAB, I caved and splurged on a FFU unit. Tested it out by starting 5 plates of various spores/cultures and had a 100% contam-free rate.

Only alteration I did to the FFU was to duct tape a 3M Filtrete MERV10 16"x16"x1" HVAC filter to the back intake as a pre-filter to prevent dust build up in the fan.

It does.  That is the black 1/4” line heading off to the left.  It just dumps into an adjacent utility sink at the moment, but I may plumb it into the drain with a saddle for aesthetics.  The sink also provides water supply in yellow, and you can see a 9v leak sensor shutoff on that same yellow input.

Edit - there is also a black power cord on the upright of the shelf, not that.

Got it, what kind of ratio are you getting? My system is supposed do do 1:3-4. So for every 1L of RO water 3-4L of waste water.

In reality though it's more like 1:10 :crankey:

I haven’t measured the runoff yet, but now you’ve got me curious…
I wouldn’t be surprised if it was closer to 1:10 as you’ve experienced.
Will have to collect some data and report back. :strokebeard:

Usually some super new-age hippy type store funded 100% by weed $.  They sell mainly water and water accessories but also crystals and chakra stickers. You can usually score a 1 gallon glass jug for about 20$. Talk about money laundering

Figured it was time considering steam has been shooting out from underneath the lid. I've had to shimmy the lid while building pressure to prevent my kitchen from turning into a sauna :hehehe:

no idea about this.  out here gallons run $0.25 and you fill your own jugs

what you describe does sounds like money laundering though

I was sick of using a flashlight to check my holy grails which have notoriously bad visibility. I got one of these tracing pads to inspect them better.

I just bought one today bc my presto finally wouldn't build pressure.

However, the diameter is too large :mad2: Anybody have this issue? What do I do to make this work?

It'll fit, just gotta work the slack around until it's all stuffed in. Once it's in there it will even out and feel right.
