Glass petri dishes? FLINT or BOROSILICATE
    #24718126 -

Greetings

im looking at petri dishes to sterilize in pc for my agar, read some stuff on here about wrapping them in foil and pc'ing them<throw them in SAB afterwards still in foil

I know boro is good vs heat cause i did a google search but someone on a post from awhile back said use flint

so whats your experience with glass petris?

I use borosilicate, I dont wrap them, just carry my pc to my sab and move them straight in.

I also like using short mason jars.

Everything(~) dies in the pc.

The issue is the half a second that the petris are in open air between the pc and the sab.

They have their tops on but still, if you wanted to lower the chances of any contam spore being on the lid and potentially falling in a petri then wrapping would in theory be better.

But I dont have any issues doing it without tinfoil. I do use tinfoil on anything with a filter on top, but for agar work there is enough air in the jar already.

Any specific reason why you hate them Bod? I was considering getting a couple just for display and archiving of cultures.

You have to sterilize them first. Theyre more clumsy than plastic dishes too.
