Actually put your whole house inside a giant autoclave and hold it at 17psi for 2 hours before doing any work in there

That’s why I made a confession 😂 extreme overkill

I used to do it in my kitchen as well but I suffer from chronic I’m drunk half the damn time and contaminated sooo many simple transfers. I fortified and results showed😂
I think it’s flow hood time tho honestly. give me a flow hood and infinite Petri dishes and I’ll do more work than yall ever imagined possible 😂

I’ve been getting into cordyceps lately and jars aren’t it for yield. Trying to experiment with bulk tubs but obviously pouring jars into tubs inside a tub gets crazy. Plus I feel like the more surface area is taken up in the sab the more vaccum is applied to ur arm holes and raises risk of contam.

working in a SAB is so much easier than people give it credit. I do it on my kitchen island. Wipe the countertop off with a wet paper towel, give the box 10 minutes to settle, get to work. You do not have to perform magic chemical rituals or shower or scrub the air. All totally useless steps.

Half the time, the extra measures end up being counterproductive. Fumes mean air movement. Scrubbing means stirring shit up. Jamming yourself into a bleached-out closet means working in shittier and more taxing conditions.

The air is just supposed to be still, and any crap in it should be settled out and hopefully sticking to the walls/floor. That's it. Granted, I do take some measures to ensure cleanliness in my SAB, like scrubbing old dried-out grains and lost agar wedges off the bottom of it at least every 2-3 months. And putting my dirty mildewy laundry on the floor UNDER my SAB, rather than on top of it.

However since I’ve taken so many precautions I have a very high success rate.

Seriously, what's probably happening when you start getting better results is just that your sterile technique is improving. I committed that same error of attribution for a very long time.

Ice cream sales cause shark atracks. Look at the numbers.

Don't account for other variables tho

My house is basically like 50% cat hair, would any adjustments need to be made?

Awesome analogy, I didn't know about that correlation.

And just a reminder, most shark attackes are just them taking an exploratory bite and going "agh, disgusting, what the fuck was that?" Like the equivalent of a human licking an ice cream cone and finding out it's rotting-fish-flavored.

I made the switch to dog fur, success went up at least 25%. I think it's worth looking into

I just dropped a sterilizing can with 7 empty glass petri dishes and now the can sounds like a maraca.
I haven't opened it to see how many broke. 😂 Pretty sure that's the most I've ever broken. I've had good luck with them so far.
