Alfalfa straw

All the straw i have is alfalfa and i have read hat it will cause major contmants if thats all i use. Is this true?

i have read that alfalfa cause major contams.

heres what my other-self would do,,,take all that green alfalfa and put it out in the sun to "sun bleach" it,,,when it turns tan then i think it would be pretty much safe to use w/ out the risk of contams,,,one!

alfalfa is hay, not straw . it's almost as high in nitrogen as grain .so, it's not a selective substrate .
it would probably need to be kept completely sterile until 100% colonized ,(as in a jar or a myco-bag).it also has a lot of endospores so PCing would be necessary .
simply pasteurizing and spawning like straw will not work .
haven't seen many experiments with alfalfa, which is probably a good indication of how well it works .
