Just visualize in your head when they say that they are really saying "we have no clue how to identify contamination, unless it is bright green."

That said I still suck at identifying contaminations so I judge no one!

Same man. Im trying my little heart out, but things be looking good when they're not good. 🀣🀣 oh well - grain and coir are pretty cheap, so just gotta keep on turning stones til we figure shit out. It'll be a cold day in hell before I give up. Im on attempt #5 of PEU and myc took off nicely after spawn, so we'll see. That's my white whale atm...

To be honest half the time I can be in a thread with like four different TCs and OGs all elaborately describing why the mycelium in a certain posted image is bacterial, and about 85% of the time I'm still like "welp I guess that settles it time to get a seeing-eye-dog because I'll be blind before the years out."

Yeah the only thing I’m getting good at spotting the issues once they’re in a tub. I’m clueless about jars unless they start turning yellow or green and have a ton of condensation. Other than that if it’s white I really can’t tell.

I usually have the most issues on g2g jars or bags. Not so much with the master jars straight from LC

I confess I have never vented my PC even once and didn't even know what it meant until the last couple of weeks.

I wonder if "unvented contamination" is more likely with certain grains over others. I've never really had much contamination issues that I traced back to the grain not being sterile coming out of the PC.

I'm going to vent from now on, however! Just in case.

Yeah, I didn't for several years, then I misunderstood the instructions and talked to my PC about my problems while it came to pressure.

Nah, seriously, I didn't do venting and then started to, but too many other factors changed for me to say whether it made a difference in spawn cleanliness.

Thing is, venting helps ensure that your PSI reading actually reflects a consistent internal temperature in the vessel. Not venting creates the potential for issues, not a guarantee of them.

But all in all, I've found that after venting, everything comes up to pressure faster and more consistently, so it's helped give me less to think about and more reliable timing.

A true confession here - I realized just now most of my contributions to the forums lately are off topic bullshit, and I'm sorry. Im stuck in a procrastination rut - broke up with my gf at about the same time a bunch of my work shit the bed, and I think both of those things are weighing me down a bit and I've just been needlessly loitering for the last few weeks. I'm a 2nd shifter which makes for too much alone time and moving away from home for years and then coming back made the old social life hard to resurrect, so yeah...I'm as good as I've ever been, and while I wouldn't say I feel lonely, I suppose its fair to say I'musually alone, so here I've been. You guys have def become my cultivation fam, so I'm sorry if I've been the guy just needlessly making noise in the corner while everyone else is trying to work. 🀣 I'll be back in the saddle here soon, hopefully. πŸ€™

I feel very strongly that talking about off-topic bullshit is an intrinsic part of discussing the cultivation of something that makes you trip.

It's more important with stopcocks, toggles, or spring weights  vs wiggle weights, as the latter will eventually vent all cold air to be replaced with steam.

Rat Tek incoming. The key is to select a large amount of rats and isolate/breed for key traits. You'll need to breed snakes to deal with the excess rats. Then breed mongoosi to deal with the snakes.
