I actually watched his series, both seasons. And am about to rewatch them. I haven't rewatched anything since the Matrix.

Archaeologists take him seriously enough to disparage him personally, saying that he is racist because he shows that the dynastic Egyptians from 5k years ago could not both be hand-to-mouth hunter gatherers and build massive monuments that we could not build today.

He says the same about Easter Island, Turkey, Peru, etc. I just want more information. He has it. More info makes me think.

I got many high epiphanies from watching.

I have not met the guy and he may be a total baby eater, but it doesn't show in his work.

Also Ghandi beat his wife and Mother Teresa was homophobic.

I love how creative Graham Hancock's imagination is, and I enjoy following him down those rabbit holes.

But I as far as social sciences and anthropology, I don't take him seriously.

Getting into Heidi Gottner-Abendroth, an anthropologist who focuses on non-patriarchial societies.  Some modern but mostly pre-Hellinic and pre-West colonialism.

Currently reading The Dancing Goddess, Principles of a Matriarchal Aesthetic.  It's a series of essays focusing on the role of art in matriarchal cultures.

I thought his show was pretty well done and he brings out some interesting points about the development of civilization.

What I find most compelling is the enormous underwater structures that have been found in a number of places (Japan, Bahamas, etc.) that would have to have been constructed long before the last ice age.

It's looking like everything cool was built thousands of years before the ice age.
Some of these monuments were cut from granite bedrock, hundreds of tons, then transported. All with tools and technology we don't have yet.

Soil depletion is a by effect of agriculture, Ancient Egypt was a highly developed agricultural society.

Edit: sorry frog, misread that as 'preindustrial cultures'. But it was 'preindustrial agriculture'. Yes, I agree that had a lot of downsides. Our conceptions of what is and isn't 'industrial' are also a bit vague. I mean in the ice cap of Greenland we found deposits of lead. You know, the toxic stuff that we somehow figured would be ideal for plumbing. These deposits come from Roman industrial sites that were active before 0 BCE.

B Traven, couldn't agree more. We white rich people travel. The people abroad who are wiped out by their governments 'travel' in leaking boats that are stopped by 'us'.

The most amazing structures I've seen with my own eyes were in Peru in and around Cuzco. The size of the boulders at the Sacsayhuaman Fortress and the distance and terrain they had to cross to get them there from the quarry are incomprehensible. The site is high in the Andes and the site was built on a flat plateau.

But the quarry where the giant boulders came from is about 5 miles away separated by 2 very steep valleys with a raging river at the bottom of each.

It's very hard to imagine how those boulders got from the quarry to the building site.

I'm fact-based myself. I don't have time for fiction in general, I have a great imagination and am fully capable.

He presents the evidence that modern archaeology won't touch because it doesn't fit the current narrative. Lots of odd, beautiful evidence.

I confess, I'm done with ketamine.  Ketamine just leads to more ketamine, and my life isn't improving through its use.

Theraputically speaking, my experience with ketamine has been that it is extremely useful in those stressful times where you need to dissociate... as long as you actually circle back on the stressor and work through whatever that is.

Moderation was key for me to have any real therapeutic use for it. Doing it every night and then all weekend long from Friday to Sunday took the magic/fun away from it for me. The negative was outweighing the positive.

I took a long break (5 years) from it all together. Now it’s just tool I use for a good reset. I’ve done it 6 times in the last 4 years.

I was definitely where you’re at with it now when I took a break years ago.  Then to replace my addiction to it I started working out, mountain biking, hiking and such. You get a really good endorphin release from a good workout. It really helped me with the anxiety, depression and procrastination I’ve been dealing with for the last 35 years
