Maricopa County broke an all-time record for the number of evictions conducted in 2024, according to court filing data released Friday.

Records revealed 87,197 filings throughout the county in 2024, with an average judgment of $3,156.86.

County officials say it broke the record set in 2005 when the court system saw 83,687 evictions filings, but there are also more concerning signs.

“Although December’s case load of 7,339 filings ranks 20th in terms of any month prior, it was the busiest December we’ve ever had,” said Justice Courts spokesperson Scott Davis.
