Stamp out about 100lb of those and get a lot of keys and keychains from thrift stores and garage sales to go with.  That way, a lot of people will return them because it's low effort and your brother will be on the hook for postage on over 100 lbs of brass

It's good to have credit.  You don't have to carry a balance.  You can use it for something you normally pay for with cash like gas or some such and just take the cash and pay it off each month.  You'll avoid interest charges and as budman mentioned there may be benefits like reward points/cash back/ whatever that you can take advantage of. 

Naturally, the card companies are hoping you'll use it for something you can't afford and carry a balance for the next decade but nothing says that you have to do that.

I'm a wizard with the Kroger fuel points. I save  $250-$300 a year on gas with those.

Within 13 months I went from below 600 to getting approved by Toyota Financial for a 2024 hybrid with a 790 car credit score.

Previous to the 13 months I never had any credit and my score was always between 500-600
