***PSA - SHOEBOXES ON SALE***

If you are in the US (and maybe Canada?) and you have a Kroger or Ralph's grocery store near you, check in the holiday section. I just got a couple of 5-packs of 6qt Sterilite shoeboxes for $6.99!!!! That's only $1.40 per box, and the best price I have found so far.

I get mine from wally world 10x for $11. But anything under 2 bucks a mono is a deal.

Rounding up rando plates I have stashed all over the house in my trusty rusty pot, getting ready to run a batch of 20 or so, and wait for the aurora to show up later (the real light show...) Great way to ring in the new year.

I'll play again this year, though I'm probably not starting on January 1 and not all at once. I've still got a backlog of cultures from generous members here to archive (and hopefully lots to actually fruit this year).

So I'll make my "from spore" goals more modest (though still a challenge since I haven't cultivated pans yet)

  • Ps. cubensis - x7x+
  • Ps. mexicana - Rancho Agosto
  • Pan. cyanescens - Bunnell, FL

I may join in on the gourmet fun, with

  • Cyclocybe aegerita (pioppino), from a print I took from a mushroom I grew a couple years ago
  • Letinula edodes (shiitake), from a print or swab of a shiitake I have yet to take  likely on my next flush of 3782 or 3790

I have a few recent x7x+ prints and some older (I think from 2021 and 2022) Golden Teacher prints if anyone needs them. I'll send pioppino prints too, if anyone else wants to try from spores. (I got fruits the last time I did that, so it doesn't seem hard to find fruiting cultures of it.)

Best of blessings and good luck to all the  contributors this year, may speed and proactive forethought be always on your side. Let us ring in this New Year with joy in our hearts while we hold our head in reverence for all of those who participated in lagm and the scene before us. We all should take a moment of silence and consider our intentions going into the New Year. Have you thought about it? Remember with reverence the innovators and true amateurs who have dedicated the better portion of their lives to this hobby and its advancement. Always bear in mind the weight of our words and actions, and the effect we put out into the world. Think for a second about all the great cultivators and citizen scientists who pushed forward at all cost with boundless energy and an eternal wellspring of fortitude, optimism and patience. Consider those who you are loyal to and consider their loyalty. Think about yourself. Think about your family and friends. Then think of the world.

"What difference can I make"
You are a tuning fork, constantly humming at your own relative frequency. You can tune into other biologies, form mental symbioses, etc. You are this little pocket of energy in space-time made of dna molecules. You have a ripple effect on things around you and your actions have little impacts like psychological meteor storms. Most people have a stratosphere and upper atmosphere that burns most space detritus, but some people are attuned to frequences on far ends of the spectrum with different atmospheric patterns and ecologies. Beware your intention and what is in your heart at all times. If you look inward you will never lead yourself astray. It is because 1. your survival depends on it and 2. deep down your body knows better than your mind. Never be afraid. You are never alone.
You are an antennae. What intention will you send out into a new day, month. year? You will wake up tomorrow like any other day if you are blessed and love yourself and your time here, especially your interactions with those around you, even if you are far away. We are entangled. It's spooky action at a distance, telepathy.
Cheers to you Shroomery.

Man Fiddle, I like you.

OK so I had the kids this NYE, which means I was sober, which means I'm actually pretty fresh right now and am totally ready. Shitty detail is the Gym spores are taking their sweet time in the mail. So for today it's just cubensis, galindoi and cyan (not in LAGM, I just like to grow cyans).

And go!
I clearly wasn't sober when I poured the plates and the GWA looks like shit. Well at least I didn't fart on it or whatever and it's clean.

Happy New Year! Now let’s get to work!

I’ll put some spores to agar today. Actives only as my gourmets are not dropping spores yet. As soon as they do I’ll grab prints and start fresh.

Pan cyan TTBVI and Wild Coast, along with a couple of plates of Gymnopolis purpuratus. I love those Gym spores!

All done!

:mushroom2: Happy New Year :mushroom2:

I did 3 germination plates of each variety.  Two plates I streaked with a swab, and the last plate I grabbed some of the swab with tweezers and stuck that to agar.  It worked for the AA+, but I couldn't get the PE swab off the tweezers...got pretty mangled in there

[oh post in thread and in OP as necessary, got it]

Jan 1

ok, got it done  two plates each spores to agar, subtropicalis (from Milkboy, many thanks) and Golden Hawk (from MycCycle, many thanks). Aftermath pic only because I'm not touching my filthy phone between steps to snap pics. Prints are months old, and I've used the subtrops one a couple times already, so not ideal, but hey. Process was a drop of sterile water (IP'd water filled syringe in foil) in each plate before scraping a print with loop and dragging zig zag from water drop, flaming loop between scrapes. I've been chill about doing this for days, know what I have to do, and yet in the moment rush and get impatient. Impatience my bugbear, the devil. It's wild. [edit omg I'm a premature innoculator ] So eg grabbed a too hot syringe to squeeze water out, then did it again cuz I can't wait ten seconds to get going, forgot to unwrap a couple plates, began to steam up my (dry!) SAB, began to sweat... It's hard trusting there are spores on your loop when you can't see shit, same thing dragging it in agar. Hard to trust anything is there. I end up scraping the print too much, dragging the loop too much over the agar just to be sure... But it's all good. Cut larger arm holes in the SAB and it's perfect. Let's fucking gooooooooo!

Chose semps cuz I want them and have failed with a couple shoeboxes so far. And Golden Hawk cuz I don't hear much about it, another unstable cube I guess. Supposed to have some penis envy in it. Grew a small mediocre cake before but want to see if I can maybe start to learn to pheno hunt, find something nice in there.

Happy 2025 y'all!

Let's Fucking All Grow Mushrooms!!

Gymn subs, Ghost, and Oviod spores ready to go to agar, cracking open the L. Americanus to xfer and pouring some extra plates today for the upcoming weeks.
As well as the ochraceo and Rusty Whytes I have a bunch of Zap T3 that will be going to grain at some point… I say I’ve got my hands full😁

I got a swab of x7x+ today, (thanks to sender) so why not join. I'm a noob and will probably fall on my ass, but that could be entertaining right? I'm in:rockon:

Aaaand we're off! I poured plates a couple of weeks ago and set my self up for an easy start, problem is, I forgot that I don't do easy.. So I thought hey both ESS, Toque F8 and Pioppino plates look good, let's boil, dry and pc som oats. I have hard water(dH 9) and a pretty high pH(7,9) so I used phosphoric acid to get it to 6, well except I am always trying to do way to many things at once and ended up with to much phosphoric acid. :facepalm3:

Oats tossed in the forest(outside my door) and weigh out new batch, got it right the second time, not bad considering it's me... While oats where drying I had time to get rid of some snow, ah yes the last 20 hours we got 30cm(12 inch) of snow and I have a semi big driveway.

Got the kids dressed and did the thing.

Back inside, load some jars, eat some dinner, shower some kids, take jars out of pc, get kids ready for bed, read and sing(poor kids), and then..... finally they sleep.

Load SAB and do; 3xA2G, 5xA2CV(cryo vials) 2xA2A and of course, the only ting I HAD to do today, 2xS2A(x7x+), but no, I'm still me so why not also do 2xS2A(TWxPE6), so now I have doubled my chances of failure.

Well enough talk, picture time. :awesomenod:

x7x+

TWxPE6

Yeah, I guess time is just a mental construct or idea rather than a physical object, I'm still in 2024...sigh.. Well I am not doing new labels now, it's past midnight and I need a beer(Saison d'Erpe-Mere clone).

I'm also lazy, so quote

1-1-2025:
Prepped my prints, swabs, plates, and pucks, then got down and dirty.

I made an inoculation loop with some kanthal vape coil wire, I also used a normal exacto knife for cutting pieces off of my swab. I used the inoculation loop for interaction with the prints.

Post use pic of my Amazonian print from Oct-'22.
Since this is an older print I'm trying to revive I also put it to some BRF Pucks in case the agar doesn't germinate anything.

Everything got wrapped up, labeled, and now we wait.

8 plates streaked and last one got the broken off swab tip. The larger containers ended up having a lot of moisture so I don’t have high hopes for those ones

This is my first time using agar and I’m super excited!
