Workaround to see if someone's ignoring you removed

You used to be able to see if someone's ignoring you by typing a PM to the person and previewing it. If they're ignoring you, it would say, "This user is not accepting private messages." And to be more sure that they're ignoring you, you can ask a friend to do the same thing and see if they get the same notice. Well, I know another user is ignoring me because he said that he just put me on ignore and my ignore count went up, but, on whim, I previewed a PM to him and I didn't get that notice. And yet I previewed a PM to another person that I know is ignoring me and I did get that notice (and someone else said they didn't get that notice when doing it). So it seems like this workaround to test to see if someone is ignoring you was removed and in a peculiar way: the notice is still displayed for people who put you on ignore before the workaround was removed.

Thanks very much for the heads up. You said you got the error "this user is not accepting PMs" but someone else was able to send one successfully? Was the person who double-checked for you a mod? Because they can always send PMs to anyone, even if PMs are disabled.

We shouldn't show that error anymore if someone is ignoring you; it's only coded to appear if the user has disabled PMs or if they've been banned from PMs.
