Odiumjunkie summed it up pretty well:

Quote:
Stopping other people from reading your posts would entirely negate the "discussion" element of the forum, would allow people who propagate incorrect information to screen out criticism, would encourage elitism and would to be frank be universally abused.

Solution:
put a restriction on how many users you can block.
there are 27,347 Registered Users to date,
allowing 1 user to block not more than 3* people (*for example),
isnt going to create any of the assumptions in
Odium Junkies post above.
in other words, the block would be warranted
& could not possibly be abused.

no counterargument?

The counterargument, the whole idea is silly.

We already have an ignore feature ...

Wouldn't this suggested feature stop others from reading your posts?

Not all posts in this thread seem to be dealing with the same idea.

silly? read this again, and try to comprehend it this time,
instead of writing it off as 'silly', as that is not a
"rational reason" why this feauture shouldnt be implemented.

now, let me show you a few examples where
this feature could/would have been used appropriately:

"Please go fuck yourself, thanks. Just because you hate me and I hate you
doesn't mean you have to pop into every thread I make
and act like a total cunt. Then again, maybe it does!"
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...1&fpart=all

"I request my account and all posts be deleted.
Due to the ignorance and idiocy of Wiccan_Seeker.
Thank you, it's been fun."
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3295478/an/0/page/3

"This is a forum for people with personal and emotional problems
seeking advice, and combining that atmosphere with a bunch of trolls
flaming people for being different is a recipe for disaster."
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...7&fpart=all

"I'm not joking about it - that bitch almost cost me my life,
and I swear to god I wouldn't hesitate to take his if I ever
came across him in real life...I don't give a fuck if I went to jail forever because of it either"
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/3170773/an/0/page/5

Also, feedback from other administrators would be nice, as i know they have opinions as well.
