Auto-SummaryThe post discusses the recent rejection of House Speaker Mike Johnson's spending bill by Congress, with 14 Republicans voting against it alongside Democrats. The bill included a Trump-endorsed voter registration act, which Johnson admitted is already illegal under federal law. The rejection highlights the partisan divide and the Republicans' reluctance to pass the bill, despite the threat of a government shutdown. The author criticizes the situation, suggesting that Republicans are holding progress back and blaming Democrats for their failures. The post concludes by questioning who is ultimately responsible for the ongoing political deadlock.

GenericHero said: Aw come on. We get good stuff from the Dems from time to time. Do they all use their positions to enrich themselves? Sure. Outside of the war and self-enrichment overlap they seem to be pretty different to me. The nlrb recently forced Starbucks to reopen three stores and give the employees 18 months back pay. Overseen by some Trump sycophant, I doubt that would have happened. Right to work comes to mind. Not many blue states with right to work laws. Just the one I think
Part of the problem may very well be that the personality type of people on the left tends a lot more towards agreeableness *Adjusts his Jordan Peterson spectacles*. When the Dems continuously fail... we are more inclined to congratulate them on their sparse, minor successes, instead of insisting they do better!
At the end of the day, disagreeable people are the ones who will eventually get their way.
I am speaking of voters, not politicians, btw. Anyway... keep congratulating Democrats for NOT having shitty right-to-work laws... instead of insisting on joining the rest of the world with single payer.. see how far it gets us.
Short sighted
Republicans literally have halted all progress by holding up the house and senate, which means laws we need don't get passed.
Republicans just killed another bill they created and blamed the democrats
Republicans killed the BIGGEST border bill we've ever had to defend our nation and Republicans killed it and blamed the democrats
Fuck this bullshit
There's only one side not playing ball and it's not Democrats

Quote: House Speaker Mike Johnson’s spending bill was rejected by Congress on Wednesday after 14 Republicans joined Democrats in voting against the stopgap measures—even after the speaker attached a Trump-endorsed voter registration act to the legislation.
The House now has until Sept. 30 to pass a spending bill or face a government shutdown.
Johnson previously scrapped a vote on the bill last week to spend the weekend rounding up support from hesitant members of his caucus. He also attached the SAVE Act to the legislation, which would prohibit states from registering non-citizens as voters—something Johnson himself has admitted is already illegal under federal law.
McConnell Pleads With GOP: Don’t Shut Down the Government ‘BEYOND STUPID’ U.S. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). “If Republicans don’t get the SAVE Act, and every ounce of it, they should not agree to a Continuing Resolution in any way, shape, or form,” Trump wrote on Truth Social earlier on Wednesday.
Johnson was defiant, chalking the loss up to “the legislative process at work.” Speaking to a group of reporters, Johnson said “the play that we ran tonight was the right play. It’s the right fight for the American people. It’s the one that they demand and deserve.”
He added that there was plenty of time to “draw up another play”—but did not elaborate on what that might look like.
Later in the evening on Fox News, Johnson criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats for not bringing any of the Republican House majority’s appropriations bills up for a vote.
“There’s nothing that we can negotiate because there’s nothing on the table, Johnson told host Sean Hannity. “We’re pushed into this scenario, this dilemma, because of the Senate’s inability, or unwillingness, to do their job.
The Republicans who joined the Democrats to defeat the bill included Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, and Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona.
