Idk what to say.
In my opinion they both belong in the bottom of the shame box.  The whole thing is a fiasco, they’re both so terribly inappropriate for the job that it’s actually difficult for me to put into words.

Auto-Summary
The post discusses the recent rejection of House Speaker Mike Johnson's spending bill by Congress, with 14 Republicans voting against it alongside Democrats. The bill included a Trump-endorsed voter registration act, which Johnson admitted is already illegal under federal law. The rejection highlights the partisan divide and the Republicans' reluctance to pass the bill, despite the threat of a government shutdown. The author criticizes the situation, suggesting that Republicans are holding progress back and blaming Democrats for their failures. The post concludes by questioning who is ultimately responsible for the ongoing political deadlock.

Overseen by some Trump sycophant, I doubt that would have happened. Right to work comes to mind. Not many blue states with right to work laws. Just the one I think

Part of the problem may very well be that the personality type of people on the left tends a lot more towards agreeableness *Adjusts his Jordan Peterson spectacles*. When the Dems continuously fail... we are more inclined to congratulate them on their sparse, minor successes, instead of insisting they do better!

At the end of the day, disagreeable people are the ones who will eventually get their way.

I am speaking of voters, not politicians, btw. Anyway... keep congratulating Democrats for NOT having shitty right-to-work laws... instead of insisting on joining the rest of the world with single payer.. see how far it gets us.

Short sighted

Republicans literally have halted all progress by holding up the house and senate, which means laws we need don't get passed.

Republicans just killed another bill they created and blamed the democrats

Republicans killed the BIGGEST border bill we've ever had to defend our nation and Republicans killed it and blamed the democrats

Fuck this bullshit

Johnson previously scrapped a vote on the bill last week to spend the weekend rounding up support from hesitant members of his caucus. “If Republicans don’t get the SAVE Act, and every ounce of it, they should not agree to a Continuing Resolution in any way, shape, or form,” Trump wrote on Truth Social earlier on Wednesday.

Johnson was defiant, chalking the loss up to “the legislative process at work.” Speaking to a group of reporters, Johnson said “the play that we ran tonight was the right play. It’s the right fight for the American people. It’s the one that they demand and deserve.”

He added that there was plenty of time to “draw up another play”—but did not elaborate on what that might look like.

Later in the evening on Fox News, Johnson criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Democrats for not bringing any of the Republican House majority’s appropriations bills up for a vote.

“There’s nothing that we can negotiate because there’s nothing on the table, Johnson told host Sean Hannity. “We’re pushed into this scenario, this dilemma, because of the Senate’s inability, or unwillingness, to do their job.

The Republicans who joined the Democrats to defeat the bill included Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina, and Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona.

It’s not like the Republican primary wasn’t just a formality for Trump to be the pick. And as far as senile old men go he isn’t far behind sleepy Joe.

The tea party is also a joke and hardly worth mentioning outside of laughing at it.

The Democrats ought to have done the same. Had Biden debated serious challengers, he would have been out of the running much sooner. It was the first debate that took him out of the running, afterall... and even if that were not the case, it would have made him more prepared.

I personally don't think Donald Trump is senile. I think he has always been a poorly educated, arrogant narcissist. There isn't really anything new here... I could be wrong, though, I suppose.

The Tea Party fundamentally shifted the values of the Republican Party. They made it the bullheaded, fringe nut party that it is today.

It matters, because the Democratic party, and the MSM consistently LIED to the American people, and canceled the primary. They put us in a horribly precarious position, where now a very unpopular politician is running against Donald Trump.

The Democratic Party showed us that they would rather have Donald Trump, than a Democratic candidate chosen by the people. They have become a fundamentally undemocratic party, ever since they rigged the 2016 primary.

You of ALL people (Since you're so fearful of another Trump presidency), ought to be upset!.. because any politician that was chosen organically, through a primary, would likely, handily defeat Donald Trump in an absolute landslide victory, and put MAGA to death.

I also think that his age was overblown because of Donald Trump. So any slipup he made would have “confirmed”
What Donald Trump was saying. So he didn’t really have a choice but to be replaced after his debate performance.

You're really downplaying Biden's mental health situation. He isn't fit to govern. Period. It has nothing to do with Trump, and you can't blame the opposition for being "too mean" anyway. That's not how this works.

My real criticism of Biden has nothing to do with his senility, though... and everything to do with foreign policy.

Humorously enough. Donald Trump is now the oldest man to have ever ran for the presidency in our country. Up until that moment. His entire platform was being ran off of somebody too old not being competent enough to hold office.

Biden was not able to answer all of the questions.. did you even watch the debate? Biden trailed off in untintelligibleness and rambled about his golfing record... Trump has always been an idiotic retard, with shitty talking points. Biden used to actually be quite charismatic and witty himself.

Donald Trump is absolutely senile and venial and vain and narcissistic; if you watch any single extended interview with him recently and compare it to 2016 it's just as damning as Biden's frailty, if not more so.

Trump is an ancient, senile, doddering racist who can barely form coherent sentences anymore.

All this bullshit blah blah blah

Who's fault is it again??????????????????

I ask this question like once a week and I guess it’s time to do it again:

Given the partisanship and obstructionism of the GOP (particularly in the Senate), what should the Democrats do about this problem?

Here are some options, in case you’ve never considered this before:

1. Change nothing. Hope to get at least 60 Senate seats (virtually impossible) without a single “moderate” blocking the agenda the democrats ostensibly want passed.

2. Reform/eliminate the filibuster.

3. DC and Puerto Rico statehood, giving the Dems four more seats in the Senate, but still at the mercy of moderates and the GOP filibuster.

4. Adopt a more populist platform which will give them majorities they wouldn’t otherwise have, evading the threat of moderates and the GOP.

What do you think?

3 and 4 of course!

But the Democrats will continue shitting the bed, and pointing the finger at Republicans til the end of time, because they don't want change. They don't even want incremental change, honestly.

Btw.. the Dems have adopted a more populist platform, technically. They just refuse to actually work toward those things.

Another thing the Dems could do, is be as obstructionist as Republicans, and lock the whole thing down until they have a suitable partner to govern with.

Some of the paths to 270 for Harris go through Omaha. That single district with its one vote could easily put a Harris over the line. So, there is a push to call an emergency session of the Nebraska legislature to change the way Nebraska distributes its EC votes back to winner take all.

Eliminating the Filibuster is one of the top reforms needed to make this country's government start working again imo. It used to be during a Presidents term that you'd get a handful of filibusters an entire four year term.

Then Newt Gingrich started his "death by a thousand cuts" strategy of telling his conference to vote no on anything Democrats propose, even if it's on a position they'd normally agree with.* Soon all bipartisanship ended and compromise was enemy #1.

The use of the filibuster became weaponized at this point, going from like 20 under Clinton to over 250 in a single term for Obama. And this is asymmetrical warfare, because Democrats Filibuster Republican presidents a fraction of the time compared to Republicans, even for the maniac Trump himself.

The biggest mistake Harry Reid ever made with his formidable Las Vegas political machine was refusing to end the filibuster when he had the chance and Democrats were in control of the Senate. He wouldn't even do a limited Filibuster reduction for judicial nominees only!

This eventually led them [the Republicans] to be able to steal the Merrick Garland supreme court nomination and hold out until Trump won. Then Republicans had to pull that trigger when they took power under that turtle Mitch McConnell. Democrats are nothing if not their own worst enemy.

*Remember that the final form the Affordable Health Care act took was modeled after Mitt Romneys massachussets health care system, which itself was based on a proposal by the far right wing Heritage Foundation. It's why Obama wrongly assumed he'd get Republican votes that way. He underestimated just how bad faith these actors were.
