Wow. I was not expecting to cause a fight over what I posted.

So what I got out of all that was there is a chance.lol try and see.

So... wish me luck. Anything is something. When you're still waiting on your first successful grow.

Just made a couple shoe boxes

So should I start with the lids immediately flipped over? giving them Fae immediately, or wait till they fully colonize? I've been seeing people say it's better to go ahead and start with the FAE from the get-go
(PE cubes)

At least for the ones I’ve been using my shoeboxes tend to hemorrhage moisture. So I haven’t needed to open the lid. Mine did try to get too tall, and I ended up having to tape another tub on top of it with some micropore.

:whathesaid:

If they're actual 6qt sterilite shoeboxes, you can leave the lid snapped closed until the fruits push it off since the lid does not seal very well.  If it's just a small tub with a lid that seals moderately well, you'll have to find the happy middleground that allows enough FAE without drying out the surface.

Would you say these are bacterial? I noticed a few funky spots today. Tried agar to grain for the first time. First 3 pics are jar 1, last 2 pics are jar 2.

They look bacterial AF.  I also see some mold growing out of that black spot near the top in pic #1.  You might want to review your process.

Yeh I figured. I’ve had good results with PF but only bacteria with WBS so far, I just can’t seem to get it right. I’m torn between getting another bag of WBS, trying wheat, or just making PF pucks forever.

I think it’s your preparation method. It’s not the grain.

Don't give up, amigo. Im going through a similar issue with the struggle to get agar to grain without shittin the bed. Just dont give up. Pay attention to what you're doing, make notes, analyze after you did your work, but dont give up. You wanna look at your PF cakes for the rest of your life and think "I couldn't run with the big dogs"? Fuck that, dude. Keep running cakes, but keep plugging the holes in your grain game. Its a hobby, but it's definitely a challenging one. I think my gf is starting to think I'm special ed or some shit bc I keep going back for more with very few mushrooms to show for it, but thats what you gotta do. If this was easy, everybody would be doing it. Keep your head, regroup, and fuck it right in the mouth next time. You got it.

I know this was already answered but it's so incredibly bacterial it's actually a little fascinating. Like he said bacterial AF it's like it's own ecosystem in there

I'm sorry it got contamed tho. Definitely examine your procedure. Something I almost overlook is having still air in the house ie turning off fans and ac. The small thing make big differences

Water seems to be dripping/running down the sides of my no mod tubs. 7 days into colonizing sub, seems fine otherwise. Should I give it more air or less if the water is streaking? 75-78*f. First go but so far seems ok?

All you new and not so new growers gotta fall in love with the process, this shit isn’t expensive, there is absolutely no reason to ever quit besides like legality or family and whatnot.

But definitely not from some contaminated grains, you kidding me? Failure is part of the process, fall in love with the process, with failure, with the growth of the whole thing - this shit is so fucking fun, act like it

Fail faster, if you did everything perfect from the start you wouldn’t be skilled you’d just be a lucky prick  treasure this period in your journey because it’s the point where people that don’t belong in this hobby leave, and the people that do belong in this hobby fondly look back at like “damn, I remember my first clean jar - bag - monotub.” This is an awesome skill to have in the bag, and once you get to a certain point you can comfortably glide knowing that if ever you so felt the fucking urge you could have 10 lbs of mushrooms in a month, or be a top contender at your local farmers market ffs

Fall in love with the process.

I’ve had a few bowls and glasses of wine so this might seem righteous, but it’s true. I can’t comprehend the idea of even considering quitting mush cult due to some process failure. Inconfuckingcievable. And I know none of you are talking about quitting mush cult  but the point stands dammit

Fall in love with the process.

Pay attention to your surface conditions over the tub walls or lid, but if it’s too much water you can wipe it with a paper towel to stop it from dripping on your sub

Does anybody have experience with outdoor Garden beds? I buried one of my contaminated bags and my front garden directly in the ground. I dug a all about 8in deep filled it halfway with perlite and verm then I put a layer of ground soil then the contaminated spawn then I put a layer of ground soil then I put a layer of verm and then I topped it off with more soil  from the ground. It was an all-in-one bag so it had some manure and coir in it as well.
Good enough?

Also does it matter if it's in the ground or if I were to do this same process in a planter box?(would putting it in a planter cancel out the whole reason I'm taking it outside? Does it need to be in the ground in order for nature to help it?)

Actually I've got two kiddie pools  I plan on making into planters. my question is. Is potting soil and coir a good mix for these planters? And does it matter if I mix multiple varieties into one of these outdoor beds.

For example.  Pe, Blue meanie, tidal waves etc.  Can multiple Cube varieties that have been contaminated all go into the same outdoor bed or would that be some kind of problem?

I do have the capability of dividing these beds into sections so I'm wondering if it's worth doing or not?

You only bury half of it. You’re not supposed to completely cover it from what I’ve been hearing.

Nature's not going to decontaminate it for you no matter what you do , u may get a few mushrooms you might not but it's good fertilizer regardless

How about making one of these outdoor planter box beds with clean spawn?

does it work?(i kno I'm asking an obvious question here considering they grow outside in the Wild on their own)but is it that easy tho?

I just kind of want to have something going on Outdoors if possible. Just seems kinda fun to utilize my garden. plus I hear it helps feed my other plants and they communicate with each other or something like that.

I'm in texas  Gets hot(95-110°f)but it starting to cool off a tiny bit. It been between 85-95 the past week. and humid.

With clean spawn I agree to just spawn like normal but outdoors using a shaded area out of direct sunlight! It's great and rewarding

I wouldn’t use kiddie pools as a long term planter, they get cooked in the sun before too long.  Just for a few seasons is probably fine.

Around here slugs will decimate outdoor beds, but it’s still doable.

Does liquid culture work well with PF tek? Better or worse than spore syringes?
