got a couple nice looking(several not nice) germination plates of the sub/allenii/cyan plates. I’ve been checking them out under the scope daily, because I really want to have some nice clean MS masters of this with a wide genetic spectrum. Gotta do something to keep it exciting!

If anyone wants the prints to work on the same spectrum I’ll send it out to the first who PMs me, at my discretion, Not to be a dick, but if i don’t have confidence you’ll do something with it I’ll send it to someone else. Would be cool to keep the foil passed around to as many people who want to try this.

Thanks Mr Piggy! Hopefully this bed keeps going for years. I think I'll spread the chips to other places around the area.

These Azzies started to get the green reaper, so I took it to an actual forest and inoculated several fresh Beech stumps. It recovered like crazy and started appearing on the surface (I didn't remove any material for these photos, it's exactly like I found it).

This is the only fruit of the season, and I'm afraid it's the last. The wood at my oldest patch is all consumed. Goodbye, old friend. Your kids will live on in other places!

Using this piece of wood as the main wood chunk in a new grow. The culture is AZ3.

Well I guess a second round on the allenii is in order. I thought the season was over after almost two weeks of 20F weather, but we got about a week of 60s now so things have woken up.

We did dip below freezing a couple nights ago so a little frost bitten but they’re still kicking!

And we found a lone azurescens pin.

And some cyan pins.

I don’t think those’ll make it to maturity, but glad none the less to see some action in the beds I layed this year, save for Subaeruginosa.

Ovoids and my biodegradable pot graveyard. The pots are colonized and will be moved in the spring to a new patch. This is after a hard frost and a foot of snow. Weather has been low 30s at night and 60s during the day.

Cross post from outdoor thread

Azurescens Agar > grain spawn > sawdust/woodchip sterilized blocks > Pasteurized Woodchips layered in grocery bags > Untreated wood chips and soils layered. I made this tote back in March. finally getting cold and a little rainy here and there. If Michigan is getting fruits, it may be a while still before I see pins. I still have yet to see fruits of these.

50°F is the fruiting range? How cold can these fruit at?

Azzies like it really cold ime. They won't pin before the night temps drop to just above freezing (at least as cold as 40F/5C) and it's also got to be plenty wet at the same time (ime).

Ok you talk about fruiting condition, but in your opinion, what is the best condition in temperature and moisture fo expand mycelium?

Still a few cyans showing up

Saw some Sub pins hiding under the heavy leaf drop, been ravaged by slugs, but hopefully something will rise up and present itself as the victor so it can be cloned

Azure is a complete fail, year two... Gonna start again from spore this winter I guess

Lovely patches you have all shown this season fellas, nice one :mushroom2:

Im starting azure on spore again as well. Been about the same length of time (2 years) for me on these azures. However, my patch went in last year this time, though it had been expanded into grocery bags of mulch and sitting in a closet for almost a year before. That same myc was in my pics above. I hope after being outside for a year it'll finally fruit when it drops temp. I'll make sure to keep it moist.

Is the leaf litter fine?

the leaf litter is whole leaves walnut and tilia species. I didn't add it, it just falls from all around

I am not sure if the walnut causes a negative interaction or not to be fair, they say you can't grow fungus on walnut wood though  but they pin profusely under the leaves with the microclimate and then push them out of the way

I never bothered much about it so far but if there was a choice I probably wouldn't choose this spot again

It's not just temperature (50s day, 40s night optimal) it's humidity and percip.  Judging from this photo I would say is it WAY too dry for those to fruit.  I might even slap a lid on top of that tote to encourage fruiting, but ultimately you need it to rain and stay humid.

The more I grow them the more I realize azzies like a slightly thinner bed.  My best results are coming off of a chip depth of 2" or less.

Anyone on the east coast know if ovoids have been fruiting much this fall? I saw that scapo said they've been fruiting in The PNW. The patch I made for my friends hasn't pushed out anything yet, had a great flush in the spring though.

Even on the west side they’re more hit or miss in the fall, sounds like there’s been a few poppin out east. This is the first time I’ve had mine fruit in the fall, I’ve got two different lines(though they look identical) of ovoid and only one put out fruits this fall.

Got over 700 grams fresh off this patch, all I did was put chips on the ground one day, never inoculated it. Not sure how to measure the BE🤣 Ive literally wept when looking at this patch from such deep gratitude that they chose this spot and I had very little to do with it. Woodlovers are so much more intamate, I feel a much deeper relationship with them like family, where cubes feel more like tenants.

Beautiful patch, and beautifully said. I  missed a fruit, but something else didn't.
