I dont see how people in our government can say "stand for freedom", "stand for america". When they make this shit up about how they can escape public ridicule about the actions they take against their prisoners.

Does our own constitution not apply to citizens anymore? Shall we not treat others how we govern our own selves? That seems a little bit of a double standard to me.

what about "no cruel or unusual punishment"? I guess they think because they are "terrorists", they dont need a proper trial before they are detained, and they dont need the rights as the rest of us.

If we are trying to set an example of a good country, why cant we live up to our own constitution?

Does the Constitution apply to non-US citizens?

In US custody? Does it still not belong to American citizens who have been labeled terrorists?

Wouldnt you think if America really wanted to set an example of being a country of freedom and democracy, they would at least uphold the values of the US constitution?

Otherwise... whats the whole point anyway?

Lincoln threw the constitution out the window over a hundred and fifty years ago. The constitution essentially became null and void under FDR. It is not a guideline but an obstacle now. If all this has happened here at home, what gives you the idea we would uphold it overseas.

Correct your post - that is not my quote.

I smell a Quick Reply user.

You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for that my dear friend is the beginning of the end of any nation. If you are indeed using Quick Reply, do the rest of us a favor. Don't.

Or add the name of the person you reply to in your post.

Thanks.

Maybe you could explain to me how an Afghan terrorist is a US citizen?

They'd be entirely right, constitutionally. Morally they wouldn't be tho.

Good question. It's sad how those abuses were carried out.

I just really couldn't give a fuck, to be honest. They could torture them, chop their legs off, and drop them in a shark infested tank. One look at the Berg executions, footage from 9/11, women and teenagers blowing up kids in Israel, and I'd be right there helping them. These "people" aren't human, they are depraved animals. And the best way to deal with depraved animals is to put them down.

Also, they aren't arrested, so thats a moo point.

wow, there's a gem of generalization, hate and racism if I ever saw one.

great line of [lack of] reasoning.

I was referring to how american citizens can be considered terrorists... i postulate the question of whether the constitution shouldnt apply to them as well.

They are right because they make a law for it... Or they just go ahead and scrible the words out... or should I say... add to them.

Its a lot like animal farm imo.

They were talking about the gitmo prisoners so i don't really see how it is racism. That is unless you guys all practice telepathy and you change topics in your heads.
