Poroshenko was elected via the people to serve before the coup. He was pro US involvement the entire time, because that's what the people who elected him wanted.

It is well documented. I love this revisionist history.

the argument seems to rely on no country having any agency because big bad US is always pulling the strings and nobody anywhere is free and russia is sticking up for the little guy.

its a real insult to other countries democratic systems but .... that appears to be the argument:shrug:

Maybe one should judge "badness" by a leader's popularity ratings?  If a country likes its leader, why should we argue that they should get a leader that the majority of people disapprove, like we have in the US?

putin is to blame. hes the one who started beating ukraine like a husband who beats his wife because she 'deserves it'.

its sick to see people make excuses for that kind of behavior.

So if I fuck your wife (girlfriend?), you won't beat up on me then?

Because clearly whatever happened before the invasion is irrelevant, just as whatever happened before you beat up on me is irrelevant, correct?

why would i do that? id seriously ask myself what behavior i displayed to drive my wife away.

and that question is a cheap maneuver imo:snub:

you could of used entirely different language to express the same idea btw but you choose aggressive wording. probably to bait me. or its just how your mind works:shrug:

We will never know his true popularity until he is out of power. That's how dictatorships work.  Generally, people would rather keep their criticisms to themselves when the alternative is polonium poisoning.

Russia continues to make the most obvious tactical mistakes you could make. Instead of falling back to a hardened defensive line and allowing enough time to rebuild enough troops and equipment which they seem to have trouble mustering anyway they've chose to keep pressure on ukraine with smaller offensive forces that aren't overwhelming enough of a surge to enable decisive offensive action to make any serious gains in the war. They also seem to be failing to protect logistical supply lines to these forward troops. Also they failed to redeploy enough troops to squash the counter offensive in kherson. Again it seems like they don't even have enough troops to proper sure up the entire front. They don't understand the concept of death by 1000 cuts. :youseethisshit:

How's that Kherson offensive going?  The Duran summed it up nicely.

For those who don't have time to watch, the Kherson offensive hasn't happened, and Russia continues to roll in Donetsk.  The mainstream press is desperately trying to peddle fake news up through the midterms.

Fuck Russia. I hope after all of this they're knocked back 100 years and the world treats them the way we treated Germany and Japan after ww2

I say fuck the guy who did it.  I'm fairly confident "Russia" had nothing to do with it, as this is an isolated case.

Just like the Russian POWs who all had their kneecaps shot on film.  A horrible crime, but did the orders come from Ukraine, or did a handful of rogue soldiers do it?

I suspect if the guy gets caught, he'll serve jail time.

Ukraine already had nuclear weapons. They gave them up when Russia promised (in writing) that it would respect the agreed upon borders.

Like on the one hand there do seem to be areas of Ukraine where a significant proportion of people feel more aligned with Russia than they do with Ukraine. You could debate whether such people being more concentrated in certain areas implies a right to carve off those parts of the country...

Countries and organizations try to limit access to the materials and science necessary to develop nuclear weapons, but there is no organization that ultimately can stop sovereign nations from developing nuclear weapons. If you can muster the material and knowhow, you can develop it. North Korea being a nice example. I know you like to present various organizations/nations as the big bad wolf, but if NK is proof of anything, it's that you can get pretty much anything done if you are willing to pay the price.

Do I want more nuclear weapons? No. But you are being dishonest again. psi was not indicating that all countries should develop nuclear weapons. He was saying that the invasion risk was nonexistent, you know that, but you decided to move the goal posts. Moreover, if the west wanted Ukraine to be a nuclear super power the west would have given them a few of their thousands of nuclear weapons. The US alone has like 3k. I'm sure we could spare a few. Ukraine wouldn't have to develop shit which is nice because they are the poorest nation in Europe.
