I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

If someone says they are against gays, but has a gay relationship and hangs out in gay bars, isn't it logical to assume they aren't against gays as much as they say?

You're not using logic, you're just falsely claiming people said things they haven't. Stop lying. Calling this a war of agression doesn't mean you believe the US should be able to coup anyone they want without resistance, it's not logic, at best it's a stupid conclusion, at worst a blatant lie. Didn't pay attention to politics back then. Not to the same extent. I was still in school back then, and I remember making a 9/11 mural in '03 as part of a school project.

I also remember, in 04, or 05 maybe 06...being very ashamed of what I did. Of making that mural. I was ashamed that I had ever spoken in favor of the US in that situation, or that I had participated in that "patriotic mural". That was right about the time I was learning about laws of war, and international politics in general, and I definitely did not feel good about my uninformed position from earlier.

Mid-Bush, I think Iraq was an illegal and stupid occupation war that should never have happened. And I think that a very large number of generals, consultants, and frontline soldiers need to go to the Hague.

If we can't discuss this topic reasonably and honestly it may be time for the thread to get shitcanned and/or for some of us to take a break whether voluntarily or otherwise.

Your previous post about people supporting the war was too much of a distinctive cut and dry situation.

It is much more appealing to support...unpopular...interests when there is rhetorical or otherwise cover to pretend that is not actually what you support.

Nobody supports the war. People simply support asking questions about the war, and who did what and who knows who and who can we blame, ya know?
