AMerica is relax AF about covid. Hardly anyone wears masks, vaccine cards aren't required anywhere that I've ever hear of , and yet, so many people are still dying.


A dude posted earlier in OTD about Canada and how strict they are there. Like he was using his vax card 6 times a day and had to wear masks everywhere.



It's just so fucking simple to wear a mask.


I mean fine, if you don't want to get vaxed, that's your choice in America...

but masks are not that uncomfortable, and DO help slow the spread of the virus.  And with winter here, masks are actually really warm. I should have been wearing a mask during the winter my whole life.

It’s a pandemic. That kind of thing has always happened during pandemics. The word quarantine comes from the word for 40, which was he number of days people had to be isolated away from the population before they were allowed into public. Quarantine is not for the sick. Quarantine is the period of isolation required to wait to see if someone is infected.

So just to be clear, you believe that forcefully removing someone from their home against their will to be placed in a camp for weeks is a reasonable and appropriate response to a covid close contact?

They do that in hawaii

If you are not vaccinated, you are required to stay in a hotel room for ten days without leaving and if you do you are fined $5000

I'm not talking about a hotel in Hawaii self quarantine.  I said forcefully being removed to be placed in a camp.

I see nothing about that happening in Australia. Australia requires self quarantine at home for 14 days. The quarantine centers are for people entering the country and people who violate self quarantine. These are literally the same rules Ontario had for most of the pandemic except you had to stay in a hotel designated for quarantine instead of a government facility.

This is pretty standard fare for a pandemic. Thanks to public health measures and vaccines it’s not something that happens very often anymore but was quite common a 100 years ago.

More people died of covid in the US in the past two days than have died in Australia for the entire pandemic.

I asked for a story about a normal person and not someone who lied to public health officials and cannot be trusted to self quarantine

Australia has an honor system but if you violate the rules you can longer be trusted.

You guys are fear mongering again, so you should probably smoke another joint and chill out. Camps wouldn't work in the US, even though you'd all be having a great time by the second week. The are way too many infected people running around like idiots to keep them in one place by force, and the police are busy doing other stuff. We also did have mandatory enforced quarantines for the people on cruise ships when all this started if you remember. And we take people out of their homes by force all the time and put them in camps called prisons, so that's nothing new in the US. Make friends with a black guy and ask him about it. We do that way more than most countries.

You guys are all pretty spoiled by first world living, and it shows. Some places had military outside grocery stores enforcing mask mandates and handwashing when this started. It was great because lots of you are just scared and having someone confident tell you what to do helps you. You'd be grateful for mandates if you understood what was happening around you.

Thanks for sharing interesting info on the virus koods and fevers. It's always a good read.
