I'm not sure who you think is panicking around here; I've never been more relaxed about life. Probably cause I'm old now and nothing humans do surprises me any more.

Perhaps you're mistaking my enjoyment of coming to The Pub for a good 'ol rant for panicking, but it's nothing of the sort, much like koods assumes I have any fear in me over all this. Again. nothing could be further from the truth.

I just like ranting about stupid shit (see Robots thread) as anyone that knows me IRL would know, and wasting time here when I'm not busy working.

IMO, it's the pro-vaxxers that are in a state of panic, not the other way round.

Something about eye of the beholder, perhaps?

I forgot they have civilized pub fights where you're from. Might be an American perspective on my part. The guns always ruin the friendliness of fights here. As long as joints are being smoked, I'm happy.

I'm not really sure who's panicking as a group. It's hard to pin down with all the panic mongering. It's easy to see who's still dying though. I have all the shit I need for several more death waves, and my close friends and family are all protected, so I'm chill enough to enjoy some jimmy rustling. I was kinda enjoying the idea of watching some charlie chaplin scenes from the dictator in that nazi spoof on anticovid-measures rhetoric, but I had his face confused with groucho marx for some reason. Now I'm not sure how I feel about a silent groucho marx.:stoned::confused:

And luckily its the pro-mandate people who will have to go home unsatisfied because theyre actually the minority here trying to live in a fairytale of dystopia. Koods and Mr. Guesswork would immediatley sign up to be informants of the thought-police for the regime in their most coveted dystopian fairytale. Its so interesting to see the existing frame work in our society for any variety of dystopia that has existed in history. We have humans in our society who are readily born to enforce evil..

Anyway, Im very glad to see the riots and protests against lockdowns and mandates. Eventually, as i keep saying, covid infections outpace the newly made fat fucks with shit health and diabetes and sugar food addictions, so covid cannot rampage forever like these panicky mandate lovers want to believe. If covid or vaxes go away then they lose their chance to be informants for the thought police. At the end of the day, folks like me and jokeshop dont panic at all, we live happily. and koods, guesswork, and the like, they panic endlessly night and day as their hopes and dreams to be informants in a thought policing dystopian fairytale fades from reality.

You've got it all wrong. My plan was to give you all the soma you want to make you pliable and easy to control. You'll do all the hard work that way. Maintaining an Orwellian dystopia is a lot of work, and I enjoy my free time way too much to police the litany of antivaxer thoughts. I'm working on a sarah mclachlan video with sad looking antivaxxers stares to get you all on board. You'll love being all safe and happy in your new utopia after living in this freedom-free dystopia you've been whining about for the past couple years.

Conspiracy theories are the new Soma. People can turn their mind off and tune in to their YouTube rabbit hole or Facebook free thinker group, numb themselves with their role of play of being a freedom fighter, part of a revolutionary movement sticking it to the elites who are trying to control them.

In reality most Americans are in favor of mandates, most people in favor of mandates just want all of this nonsense to be over, which it very quickly would if everyone were vaccinated. An incomplete series of a vaccine developed almost 2 years ago, with no booster, still nearly eliminates deaths and hospitalizations and greatly reduces spread of a virus that is still killing thousands of people, almost all unvaccinated, every day.

Freedom is good, abusing it is not. Using your freedom to make a choice directly against the greater good, a choice that puts everyone close to you at greater risk when you get exposed to Covid, is not a noble way to exercise your freedom.

Appreciate your outlook and insight brother. It's for sure like that where I grew up; I spent at least a dozen years of my youth brawling. It was only the very last fight I ever had that turned truly dirty; when a guy sucker punched me in the base of the brain stem as I was walking away after he refused a gentlemanly toe-to-toe and then proceeded to stop my head into practical mush as I lay unconscious on the ground that turned me off of all that. Fights/debates with honour are all good in my book - they're fun - it's just that below the belt kinda shit that people like koods and 1234go and they guy that did the above play that I want no part of.

I REALLY don't think it's fair to put koods and GuessWork in the same category man. That might be rooting for the same side/eventual outcome, but you can see the humour in the posts of the latter. IME, the former is just hate and vitriol.

Again; I really don't think it's fair to lump those who watch that Social Media bollocks in to the same group as those who think that one should have complete choice over their bodily autonomy. It's NOT the same thing at all. I have never done the former, yet I have spent practically my whole life fighting for the latter. Freedom to ingest a drug without being a criminal. Freedom to end ones life - without being a criminal. To be free to be homeless. Etc. Etc.

This vaccine is NO different from any of those things, in my eyes.

Despite waning antibodies, over the course of 6 months the vaccine was 47-88% effective in preventing infection in the first place, and is still 90% effective at preventing severe illness and death. That’s with 2 doses of a shot designed for a different variant close to 2 years ago, with none of the boosters which we all knew would necessary and the data shows bumping prevention up to over 90%. You don’t need to even understand simple statistics to see how that would play out on a population level if everyone were vaccinated.

It’s not going to happen, but that doesn’t mean covering your ears and eyes and bitching about those who aren’t isn’t a dumb way to spend to spend your time.

I've never taken a poll and I support vaccine mandates, how does that figure into your math? They've been a fact of life for America for over half a century. COVID is no different. We're all lucky enough to be in a society where we can develop and release vaccines as safe and effective as these proved to be, as quickly as we did. Some of us aren't lucky enough to be capable of seeing it that way, unfortunately.
