Significant increase in the percentage of reinfections vs. total infections with omicron in South Africa. Nearly 10% compared to 1.5% during the delta wave.

Got my booster today. Had to drive an hour to get it cuz of all the damn libs in my area :lol:
They gave me the option to pick pfizer or moderna, which i wasn't expecting. Doc/nurse was really cagey about what I should do, insisting that it was up to me to pick.. Wish I had done my homework more, but wound up mix/matching (first two shots were pfizer, boosted with moderna)
Feeling fine so far, just a little soreness setting in.

JSB is an international traveler. He knows he’s going to have to get vaccinated if he wants to return to that lifestyle. Why not do it now and help slow the spread since he knows he’s gonna cave to the tyrants in the end anyways.

Moderna is a half dose, but it’s still more than the Pfizer full dose.

Israelis ran actual tests of omicron ability to infect human cells and found that people had almost no neutralizing ability 5 months after last dose of two dose vaccine. A booster dose increased the neutralizing ability 100 fold, and that omicron will be 4x more infectious to boosered people than delta. The boosters have close to 96% efficacy for delta, so that would be 86% for omicron. Very good news. small sample size, but pretty suggestive that everyone should get a booster now. Boosters start working after 2 days.

Study was on the Pfizer jab, which has proven to have about 40% less efficacy than the moderna.

Had a covid positive patient for the first time in several weeks. Hospital is back to code black. There was also a hallway patient on the unit for the first time in like 2 months. My guy was not sick though, he had been hit by a car and had 4 broken ribs and a broken humerus. It's a weird disease. A lot of people genuinely never know they had it. He wouldn't have known- unless, of course, he is presymptomatic- without being hospitalized for something unrelated. But I'd say at least 20% of those infected have symptoms of some kind, and some people get sick as fuck. Some people you'd never expect to die are the sickest ones. I've seen people with end stage renal disease living with basically a never ending asymptomatic COVID infection. And 35 year olds with no past medical history who crashed and never recovered. Not all of them died on the spot, of course, but so many of these people are now riddled with chronic health problems resulting from multi system organ failure. I'm talking "will never have a job again and will be in the hospital for more than half the remainder of their miserable lives" chronically ill.


Arguing about principles is fun and all but people can stop pretending that contributing to the perpetuation of this pandemic, through either negligence or stubbornness, is the noble thing to do.

I know personally 5 people who tested positive for covid in the last 2 weeks. That's quite a jump from kind of not hearing about it.

One thing I've taken away from this pandemic is that it's probably the case that some people simply cannot and never will be able to learn from the mistakes of others.

Has the psychological need to protect the ego become stronger alongside a increasingly anonymous and disconnected society, or is it just that I had never been positioned to see it in the way I am now.

Actually serves as a compelling demonstration of the fact that psychedelic use does not in any way correlate with "egoless" behavior

I know two people who put that kind of significance into their psychedelic use. One is a rabid antivaxxer, and the other was a scandal ridden Trump political appointee.

Still feeling like shit even though I'm nearing the end of quarantine. No fever, coughing up lots of clear fluid from my lungs. Pnumonia kicks the fuck out of you.


I have almost zero taste or smell. Can't smell iso alcohol, bleach, or even ammonia. I ate some raw onion, ginger, and garlic and tasted nothing. The only taste sensations I experience are bitter, super spicy, burnt, rotten, and I can barely taste sweet. Some things that are clearly in date have tasted rotten. It's a strange sensation.

Both my people are still in covid icu. Mr anti vax is on a vent. The other is stabilizing. A few more of my people have tested positive. It's really bumming me out. I hate to see my people hurting. It is alit harder on my Hispanic crew as we are pretty rural and lack of translators makes getting proper healthcare hard.

You said you tested negative for covid? Never heard the flu doing that to your taste and smell. But covid doesn’t cause wet pneumonia normally.

No I'm positive for covid and have covid pneumonia. I got sinus infection>flu>covid> covid pnumonia. Being sick already before exposure and having a couple preexisting health issues made me susceptible, atleast that's my and the hospital docs theory.

CNN)Most of the 43 people known to have been infected with the Omicron variant of coronavirus in the United STates had mild symptoms, but most had been vaccinated and 14 of them had already had booster doses, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday.

The first CDC report on the Omicron variant in the US shows vaccination does not protect people against infection but it also indicates the first cases to be detected have been mild or moderate.

"One vaccinated patient was hospitalized for 2 days, and no deaths have been reported to date," the CDC Covid Response Team reported. "Case investigations have identified exposures associated with international and domestic travel, large public events, and household transmission."


"The earliest date of symptom onset was November 15 in a person with a history of international travel," the researchers added. "Fourteen (33%) persons reported international travel during the 14 days preceding symptom onset or receipt of a positive test result."

They said 79% of those infected had been fully vaccinated with either two doses of Pfizer/BioNTech's or Moderna's vaccine or one dose of Johnson & Johnson's vaccine. Five of the 14 who got booster doses had been boosted at least two weeks before and should have had maximum levels of immune protection.




I already know you will have some bullshit to explain this all.  Plain and simple these shots are nowhere near as effective as you all want to believe and force others to believe.  This is the most obvious money grab by big pharma in the history of drugs.

If we're defining the ego as our sense of a unique self/identity separate from everything else, it seems like in most cases it actually comes back stronger once the afterglow fades away. It's almost like a self-defense mechanism, you can't have the "all one" thoughts co-existing with the 'me me me' thinking that the ego generates

I think that people who are capable critical thinking realize that getting vaccinated is one of those rare things that benefit everyone, including themselves. Those who aren't great at it see getting vacinated as some sort of defeat or concession, which combined with a big ego is something they're just not capable of handling like an adult.
