Hi there, this is my first time posting on this board and was wondering if someone could help me shed some light on these little babies. They were found on a friends dairy farm in gippsland victoria, they bruised blue when handles and had a quite strong smell which i find a little hard to describe if you know what i mean. Anyway here's a few pics.

looks like you got yourself some beautiful psilocybe subaeruginosa. awesome specimens u have there!

can i confirm what substrate you found these in?
- either mulch/woodchips, pine needles or eucalypt mulch?

definitely active, and most likely very potent as well... take it easy with them buggers...
can i say how awesome your specimens are again!?!

looking good

what you've got there in the top pic is about a standard dose, but that can vary a lot from mush to mush from person to person

a standard dose?

it's amazing how varying in potency these buggers can be.

my first trip on fresh subs last year, i ate 4 small specimens. 3/4 of them were tiny, the largest had a cap diameter of about 3cm. oh and the stems were about a quarter the length (or less) than those pictured above. i tripped hard..

so basically what im trying to say is - take it easy, while the top pic might appear to some to be a standard dose, potency really varies from mushroom to mushroom and substrate to substrate.

I'd say that top pick is a rather large dose.

2 of them would be a good dose to start out with and take it from there IMO.

I'll 2nd (3rd/ 4th?) the above advice that the 1st pic is a big dose... esp' if they're the 1st ones from the fruiting body etc etc... (above) ... Awesome pics btw!

Nice!
It's interesting how different subs can be. The ones i've found are not at all that tall, they basically just hug the ground.

Nice find  Lets see some habitat photos

They look quite fresh. Have you had recent rain?

Also, were they growing in long, soft grass? I have found beautiful specimens with long straight stems in that kind of environment.

THere are many characteristics of the genera Psilocybe in a single shroom and it can have many differnet looks and be the same family and also be an individual species within the family.

BM how you know they sterile? because the gills are tan to nearly white?

indeed those look delicious,
also depends if you dry em first
i had about that much stems where not that long about 3/4 as long on avg
1 and a half days worth of drying i had a fairly hard trip but nothin compared to a level 5 . If you done some 'cid on at least 6 or 7 ocassions prior you should be fine with that. certainly potent. Depends how hard you like to trip id say. Respect the shrooms and they will return the favour.

the contents in the 2nd pic is what id recommend for a very good first time.
