try and get a picture with better light and more views: show gills, stem (full length), any bruising, and a spore print would help also.

They do look promising, but the stems are a bit redder that subs I've caught in Melbourne... blueing reaction (blueish 'bruising' when you break the flesh, most easilly seen on the stem) would confirm...

yeah they look like subs, get a spore print and look for the bluing otherwise no one really can confirm anything

the spore print should be purple - purple/brown

oh yeah the stems are white , you get subs with red stems?

Structure looks like subs, but they are WAY more orange than anything i've ever seen (in person or in pictures), also the orange stems don't look good, sub stems are always white/grey with blue/black bruising, never any red/orange.

From the one picture i'd say they aren't subs, would need better pics to know for sure.

i think the stems are actually white but the photos r pretty bad quality (could be from the flash) , also some subs go brown at the base (or one of the regional variations), so that could be that, of course emmett has to confirm if they are red/orange/brown or not. The caps colour looks like the orange of pin/semi mature azures . On the second shroom from the left, has black/blue? or some kind of stain just under the cap and maybe the second one from the right has it also.

my advice hang on to em (dont eat them or chuck them) get some better pics try takin like 5 pics of em then posting the best one so they can be properly observed and ID'd.

latest pic i took today of same bunch..and by the way.. the stems rnt that orange.. i think its the cam.. they are really tiny though.. when i scrap the flesh of the stem they go a very dark brownie/blackish colour?

It looks to me like they are growing off a piece of wood. That would indicate they are not subbs, since pan subbs are a dung loving species. Look in cow/horse shit, manured gardens, etc. Plus, they dont really look like em that much to me :frown:

80% sure those are not subs, I picked over 100 subs today and I wouldn't pick those. I've seen ones that look like that, try and find some more matured mushrooms of the same species around where you took the pic.

I'm with Jim, the "very dark brownie/blackish colour" you describe does not sound right for subs (aeruginosa!)... the bluing on those is really very noticeably BLUE, especially if they're as fresh as the ones in your pics... those pics look close though ... post more pics of local mushies (magic and not) if you have time...

Also you may want to check out the thread 'Melbourne Victoria Australia ETC", and pics therein... the blueing is hard to capture faithfully on digital cam cause it's really only obvios up close, but all the sub' pics there are from Melbourne, caught recently.
