Now its considered later in the mushroom season, does that mean the mushrooms are found at lower altitudes instead of higher areas such as 400+m or aswell as.

I found these today in west kent.

I found them in long grass whilst having a quick scout around.

Yes, the season starts later at lower elevations and further South but they will still be found at higher ground too as long as the temperatures are still in range.

Always think temperature (and humidity, of course).

First time poster here.

So, not hunted Libs for about 13 years. My old spot has now been destroyed by Stoke City’s training ground. So checked out a new place on recommendation from a friend today outside of Congelton in Staffordshire.

Had butterflies upon arrival, and took me around 10 minutes to find a few. I was asking the little fellas where their mates were, but have to admit I was a little disappointed. Got about 30 after a couple of hours.

Checked out another couple areas,  but to no avail.

Slightly dejected I decided to head home.  On the way back to the car I looked over a wall and couldn’t believe my eyes as I scanned a lovely little cluster. Even better, there was a public footpath running through this field. I then spent the next hour virtually tripping over the little beauties. Had to leave, as my toddler only was with her grandad who was due to go out. Managed to gets over 250 I think. Think I must’ve only scanned about 1/20th of the field. Plan on heading back with a friend next week.

Loved my little outing today. Great to be out in nature, and on the forage.

I’m heading out tomorrow to hunt, first timer here. Any advice when taking them.

I read you can have them fresh or dried. But how would I know how many to take if they are fresh?

As around 1.5 / 2g dried is recommended

Mushrooms dry out to circa 10% of their wet weight, so 1.5~2g dry corresponds to around 15~20g wet weight.

A friendly suggestion, make sure you can ID them correctly beforehand and ask if in doubt. :thumbup:

hey, i cant help noticing that this is a pic of some kind of disability/mobility support form.

by the look of the shrooms, it looks like you were able to walk around the hillside with no problems at all, i wont tell if you dont! :wink:

either way, you'll be travelling between dimensions soon enough...
