Just to point this out again: Our woodlvoers eat both cellulose AND lignin.

I think I meant to refer to primary and secondary decomposers, but yeah you are right.

Woodlover lover!
I am open to questions about wood lovers, I don't know everything, but if you like my posts and have a question, feel free to ask in a PM
I do a lot of indoor experiments. I, one day, WILL figure out a surefire method for indoor woodlovers. Nothing is impossible.

Last days of summer dried out the flower pot, so gave water. (aZur)

Interesting to read the comments on woodeaters seldom fruiting young. Didn't hear about that before now.

How normal or frequently has shroomery seen azurenscens fruits same season planted?

I have seen fruits as early as 3 months after spawning some sawdust outside. So it definitely does happen if the conditions are right. Patches made in summer may not do well tho, because of all the heat and contams. Early spring is the best.

Help me understand your post.
You say early spring do better, but if spawned outside early spring, won't it also have to contend with summer?

Established mycelium can handle the summer very well. But they can't really colonize during summer since it goes dormant.

I want to get a shoebox colonised with some wood lovers on sawdust or masters mix (like I’ve been doing my gourmets) and then when it gets cold enough get it cased and Chuck it out into the wilderness (my back yard) and see if it fruits. Anyone ever done something like that?

Or just dig a hole build a bed and dump the colonized shoebox in there?

I mean that would probably be a good shout but space is of a premium round here and slugs are rife, I was thinking I could actually raise the shoebox up to try and deter the slugs and keep everything contained. Maybe just get a bit of soil from outside to Chuck on top. I think I’ve seen people put cardboard over the top as well… need to get some colonised sub first tho, just thinking out loud I suppose.

I thinks worm help mycelium to grow even if they eat some.

No they destroy the mycelium network and it will die!
For me they are nothing good!
I make my pots on the terrace or hanging so the worms and slugs and snails don't get in!:mad2:

Yes last year in Spring I buried some colonized sawdust under some soil with bark mulch and in Fall it fruited. Of course no fruits would have happened if it wasn't for slug poison.

Well my azurenscens is not dormant at all around 20c and we still having those temps outside 3. September.

Don't understand why summer makes azurenscens go dormant. Its cold that slows them?

Yeah yeah, whatever.

Serbica t0 time.

Been doing passive germination of this for months now, finally got a decent t0 germ plate.

This look normal to you?

this year was the worst slug year I've ever experienced.
non stop rain over summer over where I live.
I even stopped using slug pellets because there were just too many.

there were always some fuckers ending up in our mailbox eating my letters.

20C is totally fine. When I say summer I mean more like 30C. And also the dryness of course, which prevents colonization.

Damn, I thought I had slug problems.  I mean they’re bad, but I think I’ll be able to keep a handle on them.  We’ve got big olive spotted ones big brown ones that’ll get around 4 inches long, large snails and lots of other smaller slugs.  They ate almost all my outdoor cubes and ovoids so far, but never my mail.

Man the slugs are even out to destroy spore prints in people mailboxes. What total nihilism!

No mercy...
