P.Villarrealiae outdoor grow possible in zone6?
    #15903455 -

I would like to do a outdoor woodlover grow but i dont have a sporeprint of P.Azure, P.Cyanescens or any other cold hardy woodlover.

But i do have 3 fully colonized jars of P.Villarrealiae, left over from a indoor grow i do.
Now these are woodlovers too, but from Mexico.
They are said not to be "real" woodlovers but secondary decomposers.
Im not 100% sure of the meaning of that but they like wood, maybee they not as good as a real woodlover to break down and use the decomposing wood.

Now, is it possible to do an outdoor grow with this mushroom in zone 6?
Im in north Europe.

Maybee they won't fruit or they do but mycelium die in the coming winter.
Anyone tried this?

Maybee i better get hold of a woodlover who is right for this climate.
If i going to have a shot at this i better start soon so i have time to build some volume mycelium until spring.

What do you think?

/Mateo

I bet it would work if you started them inside then transferred them outside.

I'm in zone 3/4 and have no problems with Azure or Cubes. outside.
I do use a lot of spawned wood chips to get started, that I start all the way back well in Feb through April

Ofcause i start build up a volume of colonized material inside.
I have two 15 litre buckets that will do just fine for this.
I think i give this a go, i mean it isn't so much work and in worst case all i can do is fail anyway.
I think maybee the winters are to much for these ones but i hope i will get fruits first autumn.

I must try to get hold of a sporeprint of an more cold tolerant woodlover also, can't hurt to have a second outdoor project :-)
To bad the woodlovers are 30-40$ for a print, but i guess it's quite cheap considering you probably only buy it once.
