I do intend to try my hand at some growing outdoors this spring. Im crubling cakes and putting them in sterilized hay bales. See my post in advanced mushroom cultivation.

To me, growing outdoors produces much better results. The mushrooms are more natural with wider caps and thick short stems. Mother nature always grows em' better. I'm currently using Hawks outdoor tek. Everythings going good so far. The casing is colonized and should fruit within a week or so.

About 3-4 weeks ago I tried my own idea. I crumbled 4 healthy cakes into a mix of: 1 part soil, 1 part dried cow dung(pasteurized) and 1 part verm. Then this was covered with pine straw and leaves to help retain moisture. I sprayed the patch daily unless it was raining. After 2 weeks it was fully colonized and fruited a few days later after a good rain. Heres a pic:

I used Hawk's tech last summer with both B+ and equadors. Holy shit did I have alot of shroomies. If you get a chance give the outdoors a try.

I used to put my spent cakes outside in the garden under some long grass and they produced a few here and there for about 3 weeks after that, they were very potent for the small size
