The other five I'm casing as this is my 1st time too. I'm doing 2 1/2 pints per tray (2 trays of this), no bottom layer, just cased with vermiculite only that I pasteurized in the oven. It's been only 5 days since the casing. I've got 1 pin in one of the trays, but I think it's an abort. d'oh.

with the last cake (which is my 'fishy' looking cake), I'm trying shroom wizard in a small tubberware container it's crumbled up with vermiculite on it in a drawer in the dark. Tommorow I'll take it out and mist it while I watch tube for a week or so and see what I get.

BTW, when you harvest (YOU WILL HARVEST if you do a few 'cakes'), I strongly suggest making a spore print.

I did my 1st one yesterday. I got home and there was a shroom there that had opened it's cap to just the right angle (in the morning it wasn't like that), so I picked it, and cut the cap off. I baked an index card in the oven for about 10 minutes and then cooled it and placed it on a dishcloth (clean) and put the cap on, and then a drinking glass over top.

This morning the cap had shrunk a tiny bit, and I can see the design the funky cap is putting on the paper. TRULY A THING OF BEAUTY!
