Please help me with casing directions guys......

Pavlov's Dog gave me these incomplete instructions for casing. I would really like it if you guys could complete these directions. I'm FINALLY going to attempt casing!!! Any help is much appriciated.......ok here's what I have so far.
> 1 - when your cakes are FULLY colonized....... let them sit an extra 5 days so they will be strong and the mycelial network
will be established enough to fight off contams.
2 - get yourself a couple a 'bread loaf' pans.... the foil ones (grocery store)
4 - in your glovebox (since you have it) birth the jars, clean off the top layer off vermiculite in the jars.... (remember this, a
FULLY colonized cake is pretty resistant to contams, unless you REALLY REALLY try to infect it... you CAN lightly handle
these things... just try to keep your hands clean as a security measure )... remove the cakes from the jars.... and place
maybe 3 or 4 cakes in a NEW ziplock bag.
5 - zip the 'ziplock bag' and gently break up the cakes while they are in the bag, into 'marble' sized chunks... take your
time... just gently rip them apart... try not to 'squish' them... but tear them.... until they are all pretty much all broken down
evenly.
6 - leave them in the bag.... in a dark clean place overnight so the mycelium can recover from the shock a bit.
Your doing good!
7 - lay down a 1 inch layer of 'moist' vermiculite on the bottom of the loaf pans (this will act as a water resivoir)
8 - now pour out evenly a 1 to 2 inch layer of your broken cakes onto the top of the bottom verm layer in the loaf pan(s),
make sure it is level.... the depth you make this layer is up to you... but it is best to make this, and the BOTTOM layer
about the same thickness... keep it flat and uniform.
9 - Now lay another layer of 'moist' verm over the top of the substrate (broken cakes), just lay down enough verm to cover
every exposed area of the crumbled cakes... then, just a little bit more should do. DO NOT PACK IT ON, just loosely
sprinkle it on, it should be 'fluffy'
10 - cover the loaf pan with tin foil, poke a couple holes in the top, and store this in your 'incubator' for about 4 or five days.
what you want to accomplish at this point is:
#1 stay in the darkness - Mycel will still 'beleive' it is underground ;-)
#2 have very little air exchange - this will encourage further mycelia growth in the 'casing'
#3 stay at a warm temparature - about 85 is optimal
ok.... after 3 or 4 days, you may open it and check it... if the mycelium has poked up through on about 30% to 50% of the
total casing surface... then it is time to birth . you are trying to mimick 'nature' in this process. If it hasn't, then give it
another day or two. This is a KEY point of mastering 'mushroom cultivation', it is known as pinning strategy.... this part
determines how good of a 'flush' you get.
Ok, so the time is right, what you are going to do now is:
#1 - Introduce 'FRESH' air to the casing, the 'natural' equivelent of this would be mycelium popping up through the earth, as
catching a whiff of fresh air, and realizing its time to get a boner and blow a load of spores. but first it must grow a dick /
sporocarp / mushroom.
#2 - Introduce light, the natural equivelent is, of course, the sun. The combination of these 2 work together.
#3 - Drop the temp to about 75.... this is called a 'cold shock', this also helps to tell the mycelium 'its time'. The combination
of these 3 factors, if done correctly will determine the quality of your 'pinset' .... <

they dont sound incomplete to me...sounds about right.
but, you may want to pasturize your casing material, and
you can leave out number 6; you can built your casing as soon as it is cool enough (if you pasturized)
good luck! have fun!

Looks very good. Leaves no confusion at all. This should be a great tool for newbies. I liked how you have combined some various teks. Also, you should note that the water:vermiculite ratio for the top and bottom layer should be about 50mL per cup of vermiculte. Also, you dont not need to use the baking pans. Any container will work really. Make sure that the sides are not clear as this will induce pining in all the wrong spots. If it is, make sure to tape it up with some electrical tape or something of a dark colour. Some pictures might help, these are taken from the Mycotopia website, hogus casing tek:

Pavlov has been a busy American, he'll be back. Yes, you ought to pasteurize. Bake at 200 degres for 2 hours or PC for the same time.

Why pasturize plain vermiculite?

Yes, it's plain vermiculte, so do I or don't I have to pasturise?
By the way, the reason I thought those were incomplete directions is partly because i'm inexperienced, and partly because at the end you see a "...." as if there was going to be more. Anyway, I can't wait to case baby!

Well yeah., I wasn't actually done writing it, there was supposed to be more, like the 'closing statements', but you got the main part of it, the important things are all there, vI was just really tired after typing up that much and was going to 'get back to you' on the rest, sorry about that.... things came up, like 'eviction', had to move on.
Plain verm does not need any sterilization.... use it straight out of the bag.

Few more questions about this guys,
1)Should I moisten the TOP layer of verm before I put in ontop of my crumbled cake layer?
2)When I introduce fresh air to the casing, does that mean keep the top of my Sterlite terrerium box off for the rest of the time? Because just checking to see if it's colonized 50% would introduce SOME amount of fresh air.
3)Should I put my trays on wet perlite to increase humidity? Or what is the best way to add humidity without getting a HEPA(that's too advanced for me just yet)?

1) Yes
2) You can take a sheet of paper or something similar and fan your box once a day, then replace the lid.
3) Wet perlite is an excellent way to go. Check out this place: Perlite Humidification FAQ
good luck!

Thanks geo, very helpful.
One more question.
1) I have some cakes that have one little spot not grown over. Since i'm casing, can I just crumble that cake up like normal and case it along with the others?
Or will that cause a contam?

when you birth the cake, just scoop out the non-colonized portion w/ a clean spoon/knife/etc... then proceed to case
