If Bernie just promised universal healthcare he probably would have won. The problem is that he promised free everything and that makes people very uncomfortable. The older generations don't like hearing that shit. He made those mistakes failing to realize that most young people don't even go out and vote. I don't understand why he didn't just focus on health care? It would have been difficult enough just to accomplish that in 4-8 years. Donald Trump is 100% going to win now. The left literally handed the election over to trump. Last election you wanted Hillary and now you want Joe Biden! Are you people insane? Hillary and Biden are even more corrupt than trump! I can understand Bernie Sanders but not Joe Biden! This is why people are turning against the democratic party. We're so fucked!

Unfortunately I think you're right. Bernie appears to me to be the best option among those available, but anyone who thinks this country is really ready for those types of policies must be living on Mars. The vast majority of the U.S. electorate doesn't support them. Much of Europe got a lot of this together in the last fifty years, but this is not Europe. And regarding Medicare for all, I just think it's absolutely unrealistic.

As a diabetic who has had a ton of contact with our healthcare, pharmaceutical and insurance systems, I know it would take at least ten years to convert everything over to Medicare and possibly longer than that. Bernie would have four or maybe eight years in office, and whenever someone from the rival party became president, all of it would be undone, or paralyzed. We have no political stability in this country at all, and Medicare for all would need perfect stability.

It seems pretty clear it's going to be Biden, especially now with his unlimited financial resources. But then, it has seemed it would most likely be Biden for over a year now. I hate to break it to all the Bernie acolytes, but even if he were elected, which appears very unlikely, it would be a disaster trying to implement those policies. The only way around that disaster would be a public who unilaterally supports Bernie, and we are far from having that.

Yet, it only takes a few days to convert someone with private insurance to Medicare once they're eligible for it.

I get it, people making hundreds of billions in health care profits every year would be dragging their feet on the process. That has nothing to do with it being logistically difficult to switch over to Medicare For All.

It only takes the will to do it but people are afraid of capital strikes, etc.

Hopefully we won't let the confederacy decide this primary but people=shit so I'm not that hopeful

Right but, Medicare for a few is very different than a single-payer or Medicare for all system. It would require an overhaul of the whole cost structure, and the healthcare companies, pharmaceutical, etc. would need to be completely reined-in, and the insurance companies would have something to say. Imo it would be ugly and painful.

It'll be another 12-20 years before we see anything like universal healthcare or free college. Trump will win again then after trump we'll get someone with beliefs like Biden. After that it'll be another 8 years before anyone even considers universal healthcare. How much do you want to bet?

I honestly want Bernie more than Biden. I don't always agree with Bernie but I don't believe he's evil. I think Joe Biden is evil and controlled.

My healthcare is more expensive than a house payment so believe me I know. I still think it's going to be another 12-20 years.

What are you talking about?  I'd rather have Medicare for All and save the inheritance.  Inheritance isn't taxed unless it's over $11 million, in which case of course it should be taxed.

Why should inheritance be taxed if it's over 11 million? I'm not sure If I agree with that. If I invented something and made 20 million dollars the government shouldn't get a % if I get pass away. That's not their money. How is that not stealing?

Haha good luck trying to convince anyone to your point - I have tried and failed. The forum rats here seem to agree that tax-paid income is still "house money" and fair game for the taxman

So someone who works his ass off to make billions selling a product that lots of us buy should have that income taxed, but someone who inherits billions and does nothing but sit on his ass should NOT have that income taxed?

I disagree with your logic.

If you make $20m for an invention, I doubt you’ll have $11m left to give your kids lol

Or are you super frugal? You wouldn’t wanna cross some shit off your bucket list before kicking it?
