I hear ya. Believe me, I'd love to be able to grow them in shoeboxes and not have all
this crap going. The trips make it worth it, though.

Fruiting (Part 3)

Here, pins were about this size after 3 days when I watered them with a syringe:

I put about 50ml total on the surface.

A day later shows significant growth. You see that a second wave of pins is starting to come in.

I watered again because the casing was drying out a bit.

Two days later (6 days from first pins) and the first flush was ready for harvest.

After harvest, I drench the casing layer (pour a cup of water on it) and put the tray back in the FC for another flush, which can come in anywhere
from 3-5 days. My record is 5 flushes. Nothing contaminated, I just got bored and had to make room in FC for new trays. Usually, I shoot for 3 flushes.

Can you please elaborate on how you're watering? Water ON the pins or around them? Or on them after a certain period?

I am watering the casing layer. Avoid getting the caps wet.

Asura, those shoe boxes I showed you that hasn't colonized all the way still look the same but one of them is pinning.

I haven't cased them yet. I'm thinking I should case the other two before they pin? Even though they look like this? My back up of this culture is trying to pin on agar as well. I don't know if casing over or around the pins will damage it?

Right now they are just sitting on a shelf in the gh with the lids on, temps 72-81. I don't know if I should move them into the Martha and hope I have it dialed in or let them keep going in this shoe box. I do have an inkbird but I've not used it before. What should I do, never been this far before!

You put these into fruiting before the sub was colonized? Like you just have the lids on?

I've never done that. I've always waited for full colonization before fruiting. I cover my
trays in foil with a few holes for GE until it's ready.

I would just leave the tub that's pinning...for science! I don't think you have a choice
with the other two. I would case them and try to induce pins.

Ok I will do that. No I wasn't trying to put them in fruiting. I spawned my grain to manure/verm and had them on the shelf to colonize. Inside my Martha the temps are a little cooler than in the gh so I hoped to let them colonize on the shelf and put them into fruiting this week. I guess the lids let in enough fae, I forgot about using foil I'll do that next time.

When I checked on them and showed the first pics they looked a tiny bit dry on top so I misted them pretty good and left them alone for a couple days. Maybe that set it off.

:hahyeahwoo:
So excited, hope I don't mess these up. They really aren't harder than cubes up to this point.

Today is five days. This is that tray that was uncased. I decided to sprinkle some casing over it and now I have a lot more fruits but everything is only an inch tall.

What do the different colors mean and the different textures on the Caps? I know the dark ones are aborts but there's blue ones, grey ones, Brown ones. The casing looks a little bit dry but I can see dew on the substrate in-between the casing bits. Do I need to make any adjustments?
