So I've been rooting for Yang, but he doesn't seem to have high enough polling to be a serious candidate, so if things stay the way they are with him come election day I am probably voting for Bernie.

PredictIt is becoming more predictive as we get closer to voting and people lock in maxed out positions on the resolution of each market.  Bernie is now the market favorite to win iowa, NH, and CA.  He is the close second choice in NV.
In addition, he's the heavy favorite in VT, MN, OK, CO, ME, UT, MI, WA, ID, WI, CT, RI, HI, and AK

Same from me. I'm way into Yang's policies. Unless big things happen it's hard to see him in the front runner position.

Although...
I did say that about Bernie last time around and he really ended up giving Clinton a run for her money in the end.

I'm not very familiar with it. How do we know how predictive PredictIs? I hope it is. If Bernie dominates the primaries I could see the momentum leading to a big progressive swing in congressional elections, and cause current Democrats in congress to move left. .And ultimately Bernie could succeed in his agenda.

But then I remember I have six decades of being disappointed, one way or another, by the Democratic Party.

There’s definitely an argument to be had about UBI vs a jobs guarantee, but I don’t think anyone would disagree that Bernie makes sense as the next best option for Yang supporters.

Regardless, Sanders won.

Klobuchar had way too much speaking time for someone who can’t crack 5% nationally. Yang pauses for applause that would never come about a dozen times, Pete and Biden got crushed on their billionaire donors, and Warren literally broke down into tears talking about selfies for the 5th time.

Honestly how is Bernie not polling at 70%

Because the broader population does not care about politics, but that is the area where his message is strongest
free college and medicare for all are issues that impact everyone
but people have a lot of time unpacking them from the "this is politics and I don't want to talk about politics" mentality

maybe finding some way to engage with people on their issues first, and then tie in Bernie's political positions
this was executed fairly well with the trip for insulin
as diabetes is a health care issue; but for most families it is a personal issue first
and if it is approached from the angle of how to help --> okay now how to enact political change to implement
it is more resonant with people than how to enact political change to implement --> okay now how will it help people to appeal to them

It’s not just disinterested people, even the interested ones are pretty god damn stupid. But I mean why wouldn’t they be? Look at the effort that the establishment puts in. My high school tv production class could’ve done a better job with that debate. Alas, an informed public is a dangerous public.

I didn't watch the debate, but The Washington Post tells me Biden and Buttigieg were the winners, while Sanders was the loser.  :wink:

That paper is desperate to get an establishment guy in.  It's amazing we have a few posters here that still respect them.  They're SO predictable.

Buttigieg lost the debate, it was painfully obvious. Klobuchar helped herself because she was given the 2nd most speaking time, and Yang had a few good moments. But everyone keeps saying Biden won because he didn’t lose, which I guess is true to an extent. But Bernie clearly won the debate.
