good vibes. much kisses. Really appreciate having you guys and this forum in my life.

this is the tone we should have

yes there is a artistic project going on here at the same time I feel
but its not one of my solo making
its evident for everyone, from posts in this thread
that this thread and the true development of
the grower the thread is describing
does really represent some bigger struggles worldwide,
and forum-wide struggles,
in very human ways, with some very direct
and some very indirect representations
of the struggle of the noob vs the expert.
of the grow. of the discussion.

I cant really describe it, but I see it now as a greater whole
It also describes what I've been going through since early-mid
Summer.

Some of my work is really shoddy and poorly planned.. and it is noone's fault but my own

mea culpa, as always

It takes a village.
Some people are nurturing and show it in different ways.
Some people are shite and show it in different ways.
All of it helps foster the experience of an individual.
Every individual assimilates those inputs differently.

You may not adhere to advice, but you don't bite the hand that feeds you and you have limitless forward momentum.
I think that's why people continue to offer their patience to you, even through their frustration.

It's a good, entertaining thread of its own nature.
You'll get there. And you'll have done your own offbeat guiding along the way.

yo! this is how we chill, from '93 till~ infinity~ :dancer: (starting to really like that song!
best moment 1st vid: "Damn!"

thought you upgraded the spoon to a flat tip screwdriver.. is that a pimple tool? lol, why not use it instead that steak knife

and please, at least attempt to sanitize your gloves, at least once right after putting them on, please... use 70% ISO, please. but dont get carried away and torch while they are still ISO wet...

what was in the bottle at 9:50? ISO? if so, yah, break that shit out much quicker in the session, like before you stick your hands thru the first time...

dirty gloves on sterilized things makes them dirty too. keep this in mind when considering how to 'fold your bag back unto itself', keep your hands and finger outside of the bag interior. also when digging in agar, keep hands and agar jar from over the top of the open bag.

on your pics, ima say a lil prayer for your tub/tray today, old man upstairs been a bit busy lately so no expectations, but worth a try~

second vid, my life!  wtg with the joel, good messages your picking to play lol
look up you may be right, from glass houses, early 80s iirc, may be another chill theme song for ya

edit to add: forgot i was looking for a size comparison chart to help gain perspective on how small spores are... when you go from spore print just scrape a little tiny bit onto blade and put that on the agar. shaking/dumping spores from foil gonna give you many thousands, even tho it may look like a small amount of dust fell, it is way too much you did and the more you use the slower things are and more likely to include enough bad stuff to fight. it is MS, same concept as vendor spore syringe.

and box cutter, looks cool, cept keep unsterile things from over and in sterilized things... that plastic handle gonna cause some issue at some point or other. its a vector if you cannot sterilize it, all of it- like the plastic that is held over open jar, etc. flame the blade is to sterilize it, as it comes in direct contact with your sterile work, while your gloves don't, they only touch outside of your sterile work, hence ISO/sanitize is considered good to go.

I havent even been to the market, Ive been fixing all my business in toilet stalls at gas stations

I have faith in this tray. I dont understand why it should not fruit.

Its a nutritionless top layer. Check.
It has moisture. Check.
The moisture will evaporate. Check.

Tray doesnt need high FAE now because I'm still waiting for it to climb up the top of the verm layer. When it does, I will turn the the lid and induce fruiting by increase FAE.

Fruiting should coincide with the top verm drying out, and when it does I need to move the tray to a bigger box that allow the fruits space upwards.
This needs to have preferably the ability to be be made humid and then dried out repeadtedly in balanced, everything-at-once, slow continual manner.

I have built a SGFC once before. I dont think I need one for this tray.
A bigger mox with some holes, and misting, should be fine.

It should only be a few days before the entire top surface of the verm layer has good colonizaton.

Smells good.

If it doesnt work, its something I deeply dont understand about how fruiting is induced and the conditions for it. Im ofc assuming right stuff like temperature etc, and no contams.

see bold text for why i pray for it...
the race is on for anything introduced to what was sterile until spawning to tray (which did not have to be done in SAB, it is the time sterility is considered broken and can be done with bare hands even. but anything done improper along the way will certainly show itself given the good conditions shrooms want and now its a fight to the finish. super clean spawn may give you 3-5 solid flushes before sub depletes or is overcome by contams that have been along for the ride since agar and any minute mistakes since. the thinness of your sub will exhaust quick and i'd look for myc to struggle quicker against the nasties also wanting to grow.
fwiw, i find life a bit more tolerable the less i assume and expect...ymmv~:jah:
(i do still find hope to be an ok art form. and in such case i do hope to see a shroom pop up for ya, the more the merrier, indeed!

Some sadness during today's inspection:

Two bags and six jars had green and were thrown out.

Jars were not old, so they are mainly a waste of substrate. But the bags.. they
were around 1w old around 30% when old Green Meanie showed up.

Well, this is to be expected.
Tomorrow I will replace all of them with my finest agar.

I am connecting this failure to bad agar, bad technique in the SAB.

tomorrow is the last realistic date for the christmas - everything that needs to be fruiting in 2-3 weeks, needs to be transfered/inoculated tomorrow.

Im unsure if I will be able to do this. Have a good weekend everyone

Yup. I'll say it again. Get shorter containers for agar and never ever ever hold any unsterile thing (hands) over an open agar or other media container. You're tall agar jars are making you reach your hand INSIDE the mouth of the jar. This is NO BUENO to say the least.

Sorry for the losses man but i can't say i'm surprised.

This means big cleanup in the weekend, and sober SAB session on saturday,
Things are tightening around my neck at work too. Got inspection from the outside, and a really difficult department to deal with. I'm going to have nightmares about the rest of the stuff turning green. This means I also have to mark my stuff down better. Im almost considering writing a inoculation logbook, every jar gets a number and a letter and I can write notes on every one.
At minimum it would say the composition, notes about stuff happening in the SAB, etc. Date inoed, date shaked.

I think this would be a good way to go about in the future.
If only for keeping track of everything I'm doing.

Im also thinking some of the top fruit jars look dry, or other stuff looking drier. Am I 100% prohibited from opening the tray? It doesnt have a lot of airspace inside. Bods unmodified gets FAE day1 from lid upside down.
Im thinkning about whether or not that is advised for my tray. .

i feel ya on the external inspection, not like a pervy grope, but yah, i feel ya! no sweat it tho bro, dot yer I's and cross yer T's that they find wrong and drive on from there forward correctly!

agar and inoc notepad, yes!
bruddah, start a journal, both on paper and in forum. i am seriously afflicted with CRSD to the point i must use paper/notebook because post-its get confusingly ordered real fast...and even 20+yrs internetin i have nothing more than a mess of bookmarks that are as useless as ad-targeted google searchin can provide on demand. the least it will do is instill discipline in the mundane art of recording our daily shits and giggles.

no fear = no nightmares.

issue with 'opening trays' is introducing contams you dont want the good myc to have to fight. maybe i blow it out of proportion but really think the more clean spawn is the more excellent chance it has to continue dominating the grains and spreading itself out into the sub before other nasties get a grip on things and slow shit down or contam it out.

if you have to water mid colonizing, damn... all i can think of as 'safe' is to use sterile water. perhaps distilled? but no nuter, ugh, irdk...but please use very little if doing so.. i cant see breaking colonization time to water being very good- but then again we should feel assured safe to spawn in unsanitary conditions even, so end up thinking it wont hurt..but...damn. i really dont know... and would search wicked weird web for hours to determine some answer. regardless stick to the base mantra: once sterile, stay sterile..(for as long as possible, cuz everything get to that clean plate of food at same time, will good myc win? and once sterile is broke then be an honest steward and treat myc like youd like to be treated, kindly and with respect~

it will reward your efforts, should they be tempered with respect and dignity towards any life force (from all life is sacred perspective), and not thinking you can get away with murder because they grow on shit...

:jah:
makin my violet pods tonite, had a t1 plate or three i wanna see what happens.. also preppin up my millet masters for the t2 transfer results in a day or 4. read more fda and cdc sterilizing shit today than i wanted to see in a lifetime. its all grotesque, but i gotta start somewhere lol...

Nah man. You can open it up and mist with regular water (unless your tap water is fucked). No tub is sterile. My usual advice to folks is "just don't poop in it".

Great! One of the bags turned out to be just blue bruising, not mold.

Today we are replacing the losses from evil green mold. One bag and seven jars out of a total of 5 bags and 50 agar/substrate jars.

[BRF-PFTEK]

The following has been prepared:

- 1 kg of popcorn
- 3 kilos of ground up brown rice
- 5 kilos of vermiculite

Transfering from:
- 1 good looking agar

Transfering to:

- 7 New agar
- 7 new substrate jars
- 2 new bags

Following EvilMushroomstek, only omittal is the dry vermiculite layer because we are transfering from agar, which the dry verm layer just fucks up.

1 parts BRF = 300 ml
2 parts verm = 600 ml
Water = 300 ML

Added to a total of this ratioed mix to 4 normal jars.
Jars have lids and filters.
PCed for 60 minutes.
Now cooling.

==Popcorn==

Simmered 1 kilo of popcorn in water.
Strained it, and treated it with tissue paper.
Looking good now. Wet inside, drier outside.

Transfered to 3 taco tall mini-jars, 2 regular 1/2 pint jars.

PCing for 60 minutes.

The agar I use for the transfer in the video.
The state of the verm casing tray.
Some pics of good looking popcorn jars, imo.

Before PCing popcorn jasrs:
