Moisture absorbers from Cheap as chips etc. have the same stuff in them as damprid, the Salvos also have it in stock for some reason. Some of them fit nicely in a larger container, like this:


Works better than silica and is also good for household moisture issues.

Get the silica packs from ebay. Buy the ones that are larger than the standard 1 gram ones (the size that often come packaged with electronics), the 10 gram packages work well. Helps to dry them after you receive them as you never know whether the seller stored them properly.

They'll hold potency for a year or more stored in a jar with these and unlike damprid (calcium chloride) you don't have to worry about cross contamination tainting the taste or leaving little black wet bits on the dry shrooms if any managed to directly touch the shrooms. Current research shows it isn't toxic at low doses however if you eat it directly it can cause irritation of the stomach etc due to the exothermic reaction with water. Diluted in water though very small amounts of Calcium Chloride are harmless, they sometimes add it to pickles and things like that apparently which means it is perfectly safe to use, I prefer silica gel myself however.

I went for a hike deep south today.... checked out the creek... saw some pine forests. Then went back to central hills to pick some mushrooms.

Not down South.... idk. Frustrating... my sensors were tingling, I couldn't hit the mother load. Saw loads of 5/5 perfect Amanita Muscaria and there were purple ones and green ones. I shall return perhaps tomorrow.

they're definitely out there! found a good haul and a shit load of pins in a spot i know, only problem was as i was having a good ol search the police rolled in and made me dump them and smoosh them with my foot. more fore next season i guess!
$375 fine for trespassing coming in the mail apparently. stay safe guys  :uhoh:  :uhoh:

A couple of months ago I was planning on going through a new track where I haven't been before. At the time I was unsure whether it crossed private property.

Along the way a women drove past and offered me a lift which was super nice of her, I took the offer and was talking to her about my journey. I mentioned the track and she advised against it, stating that it crossed private property and the people who lived there were ex-military. She sent a text to them requesting permission but they didn't reply in time so I decided to avoid the track.

You never know who lives on private property and how they will react if they find you.

I completely agree mate, and anywhere I see fences and it's obviously someone's property I'm not going to enter without permission. What annoys me is that the government has all this prime Bush and land to explore yet noone can go on it. Especially in such close vicinity to national and conservation parks.

Yeah I guess I can see where they're coming from.. there was abit of rubbish around :mad2:. It was just one uniformed cop, I was in the area submersed in picking as I'd found afew and didn't even hear him come up until he was like 5 metres away. He made afew jokes about shrooms and psychedelics, asked me if I knew it was private property and picking shrooms was illegal. I played dumb and said no and he just made me pour them out and smush them with my foot. Checked my i.d and said I'd get a fine in the mail for trespassing but nothing for the shrooms. Asked about 5 times if I was right to drive and if I'd eaten any and let me go.
