Beto's family owned slaves

So Beto was caught trying to beat a guardian report that would detail his deep family history and ties to slavery. It turns out he beat the guardian's report and got in the first word.

What's with all the slave owning KKK Dems running for president?

Why would lefties want to support privileged families who are guilty of the very things they hate. Slavery, generational wealth produced from blacks, KKK busing, and Indian impersonators?

Wow. This is going to be a dirty identity politic kind of election. And Trump will crush the fake establishment candidates.

These threads are absurd. For someone who thinks white people should not be held responsible for the sins of their ancestors, which is a completely reasonable position as well as one mandated by the constitution, you spend a lot of time accusing people of having slave owning ancestors.

We already went through this in the other thread. It would be unusual for an American not to have slave owning ancestors. It just gets more and more statistically unlikely the further back you go. Just six generations and you have over a hundred ancestors. Very unlikely none of them were slave owners

Unless you are catholic and from the North.  Slavery wasn't legal when my ancestors were hear.

Honestly, I still hear stories about my Grandpa's ancestors that settled in Ohio and knew Native's.  The story I heard was a young Native lady set her baby down and a wild boar ran off with it.  Very sad!

I'm outlining principles that are potentially disqualifying for Dem candidates. Things that they themselves spend time speaking out against.

Trump doesn't live by your identity politic principles.

The dem candidates do, which makes them responsible -- not Trump.

Let the Dems be the first to pay reparations.

Beto and Harris must pay.

Self-disclosure is a good thing. Ok yeah, they ancestors owned slaves. That was the past. Im sure theres Republicians who had ancestoral slave owners too. But will they self-disclose that? Time will tell.

I don't think they would have a hard time denouncing the fact ONE ancestor owned a slave(s).

I don't think it's the personal issue for them you think it is.  I don't see the media or Trump making a deal out of it yet.  Only because it'd be an incredibly stupid move.

Trump's ancestors in Germany are likely to have been Nazi's.

Lol i thought attacking people for past wrongs was exactly the sort of thing that you were against. If you care so about slave owners from 100 years ago does that mean you also support reparations?
If no then why is ok to attack someone for their great great grandfather being a slave owner but not compensating a former slaves family? I dont believe in reparations but im trying to see the logic here
