Melbourne - ID Request - First Hunt
    #26078628 -

Found in hilly eucalyptus forest North of Melbourne. First time hunter so unsure of species. Didn't get a chance to take a spore print unfortunately. Heads seem to have speckles/spots. Thanks in advance.

If you can get a spore print that would go a long way to identifying them. Pictures of the underside of the cap would be good too.

Some of the mushrooms in the third picture seem to have bluing, which would suggest Ps. subaeruginosa. Get more photos and wait for more opinions tho

They look like subs to me but I'm no Trusted Identifier and I cannot say with certainty everything in your 3rd photo are subs... close ups of each mushroom would help clarify things.

Thanks for the help! More pictures as requested. They’ve started drying out now as you can see.

agree

confirm each one has blueing, if not, throw it out.
also better pics needed! But with that said, do look like subs.

edit: 100% sure first two pics are subs.
third pic: cant quite tell, most likely is
fourth: left ones cant tell, right two look good.

(wait for TI :P)

It’s hard to distinguish blue from black. First two pics definitely have parts of the stem with a blue tinge which has gotten more pronounced as they have dried. The 3rd pic was the biggest of them all and looked exactly the same when growing but I’m assuming was more mature. It has gone completely black. The last pic has me confused, they were slightly blue an hour ago and then went black. All the mushrooms in all these pictures looked the same (to me) when growing apart from size variation.

The new pics are better and seem to suggest to me they are all subs. Wait for a TI to be sure, nice finds and well done.

Psilocybe subaeruginosa, nice find.

Welcome to the shroomery, I would like to ask you to take a few minutes to educate yourself on phytophythora cinnamomi, it's a nasty little fungi that has the potential to do great environmental harm and can be spread by mushroom hunters particularly. You never know when or where this stuff will pop up and you definitely don't want to help spread it, please use scissors or a sharp knife to harvest mushrooms, especially since harmful fungi such as Phytophythora can be easily spread by pulling fungi out of the ground.
