North Georgia id request( possibly amanita Jacksoni?)
    #26079338 -

Hey everybody, just gonna say up front this isn’t a proper ID request in regards to the community guidelines, but I’m hoping you guys can help me ID this mushroom mostly off of the picture.  I couldn’t get all of the proper information because my friends just sent me the pictures and didn’t give me any other information.  I don’t have the mushroom So don’t worry about killing me with a wrong ID, I am just trying to learn more mushroom species.

Looks like Jacksoni to me.

Can you tell me if it has a ring on the stem so I can key it out properly? It could be Amanita Jacksonii, but there's a couple of things that concern me. I don't see any orange to reddish fibres on the stem, and the gills look kind of whitish to me

Cant say for sure, my friends saw these while walking in a local park so they sent me some pics since ive been expressing interest in mushrooms.  Sadly the pictures are all the info i have.

The second picture could very well be a different kind of mushroom, what others could they be besides jacksonii do you think??

I don't know, they would be quite easy to identify had I had all the necessary details, but I'm not an expert in Amanita, so I'm not sure what else they could be to be honest. Pic 1 looks like it could likely be Amanita jacksonii, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'm not even sure if pic 2 is the same species, I can't see the volva, and the stem texture looks different. Compare pic 2 with Amanita parcivolvata for example.

They’re Amanita in section Caesareae, all of which are edible. As far as an ID, I’d check the Amanitataceae website, looks like Tulloss’ provisional Amanita “sp-10”

I really believe that there are two different species there though. The second one looks like Amanita parcivolvata with the warts washed off.

The stem is too smooth in the first photo to be Amanita jacksonii, and too powdery in the second photo to be A. jacksonii.  It might not be possible to ID the first one without photos of it mature, especially the whole stem and gill color.  It's definitely in http://www.amanitaceae.org/?stirps%20Hemibapha.

The second is Amanita parcivolvata.

Both are good edibles.  A lot of people are scared to eat Amanita parcivolvata because it is in Amanita section Amanita, and most of those are toxic, with muscimol, however A. parcivolvata lacks this chemical.
