ID Request Please - Liberty Bell - Melb - AUS ??

Hi Guys,

My first post, please forgive any mistakes I may have made. Appreciate all the experienced hands and mycologists here keeping people safe.

I found these guys in my local area while actually on the hunt for gold tops. Should these end up being the magic kind , a recommended dose would be appreciated given they are so small. Cheers all.

Habitat:
Growing in soil, near a pile of wood chips. Stream near by.

Where does it grow? Pasture, VIC, Australia, winter..

Gills:
Chocolate brown, attached.

Stem:
Very thin, quite small, 5cm or so. thin however solid.

Cap:
1-1.5cm, color = cream, texture = delecate.

Spore print color: Black

Bruising:
No brusing noticed.

Anyhow, praying this is Mushroom is Psilocybe Semilanceata. Appreciate any help thanks!

You found a species in Psathyrella or a very closely related genus.

You should study Psilocybe subaeruginosa a bit more closely, as these do not resemble them very much.

Edit: seeing now in your post title you ask for "liberty bell" which I assume you should know is the common name
for the species Psilocybe semilanceata, which grows in grassland pastures where herbivores graze, and
not in wooded areas, like Psilocybe subaeruginosa does.

Oops, I actually meant to say I thought I found libs - Psilocybe Semilanceata.

Can I ask a dumb question please? :confused:

I assume not all black/purple spore marks equal fun times then?

As stated, you won't find them in the habitat you described, or if so, it is an exception from the general rule.
Also, while you apparently might be able to find them in Victoria, you are better off searching for P. subaeruginosa
as that species is much more prevalent in your area, especially in urban settings like Melbourne.

There are many dark spored species, and most of them are not psychoactive.
For instance species of Deconica, Hypholoma, Stropharia, Leratiomyces, Psathyrella, Coprinellus, Coprinopsis, Lacrymaria.
