Re: THE OFFICIAL NEW ZEALAND PSILOCYBIN MUSHROOM THREAD 2019!!!! [Re: Lil_loose_nut]

We had a good burst of rain last night in the Kapiti area so I went and checked on several spots I had found pins at a few days earlier and had covered up with dried gorse and grass as it was still quite dry without any sign of rain for 2-3 days. I found the ones I had covered up had done quite well and expanded in numbers whereas the ones I had left exposed had turned very dark brown and dried up. I took some of the pins as well as the mature ones today as there were gardeners working in the area replanting and weed spraying, I had to chuck a few away that I had collected as they had that copper poison on them. Of my two seasons hunting this has definitely been the best, I have collected three times as much as last year in about a third of the time.

Hey all! I'm am amateur mycologist in the making, and I am located in Auckland now. I was super excited by the rain over the last couple of days and heaps of mushrooms varieties are in bloom, but it is quite warm here still (16-20 degrees). Is that too warm for subs to grow? Do I need to wait until it cools down and how many days after rain would I be able to look for and potentially be successful in my finds?
Thanks!

Went and checked around the place since we've had a tiny bit of rain (tiny tiny tiny bit). Found a beautiful sub growing in some grass. Sadly wasn't completely mature, but didn't want to risk leaving it. (EDIT: I didn't even notice until I was looking at this picture, but that might be a wee pin to the left, halfway up the image!?)

Also went and scoped out the patch that got pillaged a week or two back and found a bunch of pins and some mature mushrooms that I gently lifted out of the ground and took home to plant. I'll check them daily and keep them well watered.

Special shout-out to this chonker

Also, in addition to planting a bunch, some were either fully mature or just rotted stems and I didn't think there would be much point in planting them, so there all printing currently. The tiny one in the middle is fully mature; such a size difference between it and the largest one there which is also fully mature.

I'm glad you're winning. I went for a brief walk yesterday in Kapiti but no luck. Still yet to find my first.

Rain makes everything much juicier.

This little muncher droped out of a cap, must have a maxed out tolerance.

There were almost no critters at the beginning of the season, but now the number of manky fruits increases a bit,
infested with mushroom maggots and all chewed up inside. They go straight into smoothies for propagation purposes.

A while back I remember finding a doc online that had a guide to shroom identification in NZ... I can't find it anymore. By any chance does anyone know what I am referring to, and can point me in the right direction? :-)

Is this what you're looking for?

That's exactly it! Do you have a link to the rest of the file by chance? Confidently finding weraroa regularly, but need a resource to identify others.

The site I got it from doesn't exist, if you want to pm me I can email it to you.

Here's a link to something similar.

It's great fun watching this thread; seeing the country get a bit of rain and then all the posts start rolling in, otherwise when it's dry it can go a day or two without any posts or with only one...

Tempting to do some graphing hahaha.

Yeah. For me they are more upsetting on my gut than subs for the first hour or 2. They are a nice visual experience but can have a heavy body load.

I dose them the same as I dose subs.

Do you eat them, or do you make them into a tea?
