The USDA almost banned wooden boards for ageing cheese.
And almost got cheese wax removed from being able to be used on Organic products.(which would effect log cultivation too, and their alternative was styrofoam lol)

Apparently worrying about the outside world seems even more poiltless as the US is becoming energy indipendent, and the rest of the developing world falters with aging populations. According to Peter Zeihan we have the most stable economy in the world by far, because of how self contained and dynamic it is.

It's more complicated than that, and his talks are very interesting

The economy is stable for the top 1%, but for the bottom 60%, it's far from stable.

Is GDP still a good indicator for the health of the working class? Absolutely not, in fact a lower GDP could still have improvements for the working class, as opposed to a strong GDP with the middle class getting poorer.

People in America in general are doing well. Untill we get Utopia, there will always be a lower class. People are fat and doing relatively well, and the point is that America as an economic entity will remain prosperous.

Well I question how someone can do tens of millions, or billions of dollars worth of value, that's philosophical, ot practical.

They absolutely are, when looking at the world and relative historical conditions. Many people have made bad choices or have had things happen limiting their economic viability, but I'm not a populist. And most people are a waste. It's just the way of things. People think because some fail that the economy isn't working, and that is childish way to think about things.
Even if everyone was economically well off, the human condition is one that lacks satisfaction

Relative to 30 years ago, the working class isn't going well. Relative to 45 years ago, they're doing multiples worse. It's not even a fair comparison.

This isn't just my opinion, this is statistical fact.   You should already know this fact, I least I hope you do.

From what I see most Americans live a luxurious life compared to decades ago that they could hardly imagine. Most people have appliances, food, and internet access. Of course, not everyone
The whole meaning of living well has changed.

I'm not saying people sometimes work and don't get their due, but that has always been the case.
The trend in quality of life, aside from obesity harming our lifespan, has been up. We live in the safest most prosperous nation in the safest most prosperous time ever. Just because the lowest people in the hirarchy have complaints doesn't make it less true

It's one aspect and mostly a result of personal choice. We still live very long historically, many people to ages where you get diseases of aging like cancer and cardiac disease.

You are being myopic, which is one of the most annoying traits people have. It's fucking pathological. Italy and Germany are about to age themselves out of consumer growth, because older people consume less, possibly forever. Japan has the oldest population in the developed world. We will have a next generation to possibly live longer, but the nation's living longer on average than us are only living maybe four years longer. It's nothing.

No its a sign that economically the working class of America is suffering. You don't have a good country and declining life expectancy you just don't. This is why nationalism is bad it ignores real problems of a nation.

Life expectancy can't go up indefinitely.
The nation's with higher life expectancy are small European nation's and Japan. We have a more obese population and eat a relatively meat rich unhealthy diet.
Japan is the highest and only bearing us by about four years on average.

Again, it's not an opinion, it's economic reality.

Yes, mortgage, auto, student and credit card debt (total of 13.5 Trillion) for US consumers are at an all-time high.  A big chunk of these luxuries you are talking about are paid with borrowing money.

A good percentage of US citizens are broke and nothing more.

Most people for all of time have been extremely poor.
I'm awear of wage stagnation.
These are often the things people cite. Despite this people live comfortable, safe lives. There aren't mass starvations or anything really prescient.

It's like people have no concept of history or how our ancestors suffered and think the things you are complaining about even come close.
So what if that money is borrowed? So what if we are in debt to china? Our economy is what holds up the entire world. The US has come out of every decade in a more advantageous position economically and militarily then it has for over a century. Longer than any nation.

The US changed the economics of the world to create global markets so it wasn't dangerous to trade with neighbors because you could be at war with them. The US is fucking amazing

Why hasn't this thread bran moved to the political subforum?
It used to be that the normal thing for American people was 1 person supporting their entire family and building there own custom home for said family off a butchers salary.

To say we are anywhere close to that now is ridiculous and we are failing until we get back to that.

Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves Man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion.

Being proud of one's country is 100% fine. Now yeah there's a difference (obviously) between just being proud of your country/culture and being an extreme nationalist who is hateful and looks negatively at any other country & culture.

But if you're a good human being who just happens to be proud of your country and heritage, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I think it's comical that we have an army of dipshit SJW's who think it's fashionable to hate their own country. These fucking tards wear it like a badge of honor like they're fucking cool and different because of it. Fuck outta here.

Seriously if you hate your country so much, why are you still here? It's a big ass earth. There's plenty of other places you can go. But oh yeah, you need money to leave and most of these social justice warriors are trapped in a country they despise because most of these bums still live with mom and daddy

I agree.
I think the first part of nationalism is cool: "Identification with one's own nation and support for its interests," but the second part is not cool: "especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations."
So I guess based on that definition I am not a nationalist.

When you put your own interests first, you kind of have to do somto the detriment of others.
I really dislike the wording in that defenition, because it seems to imply idiotic maliciousness. That would be bad for your nation by defenition

i have to say that you make a good argument for your opinions about nationalism..

but if i am being honest, this is the way the USA looks like to most people, malicious and idiotic. this is how i see the USA.
