You completely miss what I'm saying. If we have no nation's, then how will we protect property? I'd have no right to refuse these people if they had the means to bend me, because there would be no outside threats to protect me. You saying ai have a right to not help is meaningless, because they would make me.

Nationalism is about security, and the pragmatic reality that if you don't work in your own self interest, other groups that take on this way of thinking will take advantage of you for their own.

We aren't all one group. A nation is people similar enough to work together.

Yes, that's what borders do, they divide people based on citizenship. That's the whole point of a nation state.  Why is this basic commonsense so difficult to comprehend?

It's the same reason why my property has a border and my door has a lock on it, to create a divide between myself and other humans.

They don't get that once you removed the nation state, your personal property becomes meaningless and another culture can come in and make their own boundries

you dont sound mean and no, its not your responsibility to help anyone, period. but stepping up and doing so shows that you are passionate about the wellbeing of others and thats a good thing. i dont think it makes someone a bad person if they dont have the ways and means to help others.. but i find it hard to swallow that the gov't squanders billions of dollars on things that dont help humanity but rather make it worse for others whom already suffer.

Nationalism focuses on helping people in your community first, instead of people that live thousands of miles away.

Trying to create some narrative that being nationalistic means you're not compassionate to disadvantaged humans is completely outrageous.

You're completely wrong here. Patriotism in the US had NOTHING to do with unregulated immigration in the US.

For 90% of US history, immigration into the US was highly discriminatory based on country of origin.

How do you think the US became the worlds economic and military superpower, by pure chance?  No, by highly regulating the demographic makeup of the population.

Are these people imposing their own nationalism within this nation and state? A nation/culture within a nation/culture?

It's accepted by enough people that every nation in the world has citizenship, national borders and national sovereignty.

Maybe you should go find a group of people that think like you do. You can abandon all forms of property rights and citizenship. Let us know how that works you for you.  :rofl2:

Yeah, it's pretty easy living in a first world country and living a decent life and claiming to be a "globalist".

Does buying products built on third world slave labor make you a better person than a nationalist?

The world's billionaires are also globalists, what does that tell you?

If you do not believe the human race has the technology to make life a complete success for every face upon this planet you are a daft fool.

Do you know that a distilled form of what Buddhists refer to as enlightenment could be explained as 'the time when one realises that all separation is delusion'?

I think that anything that fosters the delusion of separation is not good for ourselves, our fellow humans, or the world we live on and the other life that inhabits it.

We don't exactly live in a world that's great for all those things (in fact, it's pretty much indisputably bad for them) I just mentioned and I think nationalism is one of the main causes of, if not the main cause of, that fact.

Any arguments that can be made for it pale in comparison to that realisation, IMO.

Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

I agree. Getting others to see and do is another story. The parents train the kids and so on. BUT, every generation gets a little more filtered and hopefully there will be a time globalist ideas and way of being will be the norm. I like the Gaian earth theory and it could apply here maybe.

Overall, the Gaia Theory is a compelling new way of understanding life on our planet. It argues that we are far more than just the “Third Rock from the Sun,” situated precariously between freezing and burning up. The theory asserts that living organisms and their inorganic surroundings have evolved together as a single living system that greatly affects the chemistry and conditions of Earth’s surface. Some scientists believe that this “Gaian system” self-regulates global temperature, atmospheric content, ocean salinity, and other factors in an “automatic” manner. Earth’s living system appears to keep conditions on our planet just right for life to persist! The Gaia Theory has already inspired ideas and practical applications for economic systems, policy, scientific inquiry, and other valuable work. The future holds more of the same.

Every nation discriminates based on citizenship.  Don't attempt to suggest I'm the person who is discriminating against people for no valid reason, it's not true.

This isn't s spiritual issue. It's called living in the real world and doing what's best for everyone.  Do you really think a border less world is going to benefit humanity as a whole? It wouldn't, it would make it worse.

The US already has massive wealth inequality today with just 330 million people. What do you think happens when there's a billion people living here?  It would turn into a shit hole in short order.

What does that have to do with anything?  Technology has been flowing throughout the entire world for decades now. African's use cell phones before they even got land lines.

Maybe you should define what being a "globalist" is?  Nationalism isn't complete isolation by any means, it's just putting your own community before others outside of it. There's nothing morally wrong about that practice.
