The idea we don’t have enough resources to support our current population is one of the biggest fallacies of the modern age.
It’s not a question of how finite our resources are, it’s a question of how they are being allocated, a question that can’t be addressed until the baseless boundaries have been dissolved.

We do NOT have enough of cheap energy for 8 billion people to live like US citizens, it's impossible.

Nah we do 4th gen nuclear power and solar will get us there.

solar can provide free energy to every human.. but then who will profit?? haha thats the sad world we live in

It is indeed and folks like Qman want to keep us dragged down in ignorance and nationalism.

I agree, I have always been a big advocate for nuclear power. But as the world stands today, the cheap energy isn't there for most of the human population.

I agree 100%, there are plenty of what I call 2nd world conditions all over the US. That's why I'm an economic nationalist, I want to improve the living conditions for millions of poor US citizens.

Many times they do suck, but I don't think it's productive to generalize something as an absolute when it really depends on so many different variables.

Your giving them too much credit speaking like that, qman. He is a yang supporter. He wants free money. He doesn't have any values.
To not be a nationalist you have to either misinterpret what it is(associate it with nazis), be self hating, or have some idea that geography isn't important.

The last one I find incredibly troubling. I know we get alot of things from far away, but you still get most of the food you eat from the state you live in, and you can't be part of a community you don't live in in any meaningful way

4th gen Nuclear energy is good since it can reuse nuclear waste as fuel and they don't melt down. The anti nuke hysteria from environmentalists is unwarranted with 4th gen.

Yeah, it's pretty easy living in a first world country and living a decent life and claiming to be a "globalist".

Does buying products built on third world slave labor make you a better person than a nationalist?

The world's billionaires are also globalists, what does that tell you?

If you do not believe the human race has the technology to make life a complete success for every face upon this planet you are a daft fool.

Are u perhaps referring to secret technology that the super-secret military current possesses but does not share?

Lowbrow we have already gone over this in the politics section putting money into American hands will create jobs and economic growth. When people can pay there bills with no stress mental health improves. When homeless people can get off the street thats good for the country.

Well here's the thing. When someone has the 'save the world' mentality, it's the perfect excuse to do nothing since the task is completely unmanageable and logistically impossible.

When you suggest to them to help people in their own nation or community, they scream nationalism is harmful and won't help anybody as a result.

This concept of being a "globalist" is the biggest cop out there is, that's why so many people gravitate towards that position.

Helping the community isn't nationalism its the decent thing to do. Nationalism is the elevation of the nation state above all other priorities. With that comes problematic side effects like xenophobia.

What our priorities are there besides your nation?
I'm not saying universal basic income is the worst idea, just that one needs to make some very good economic arguments as to why it's a favorable idea.

Considering how pedestrian our debates are, I doubt anything of substance will be said.

Well international relations and trade for one the world is very interconnected. For example Trumps China tariffs are going to raise the price on common products for ordinary Americans all to spite China. We need a leader who has a strong understanding of world affairs and our role in the world.

I believe with the current economic climate and the fact that American life expectancy has declined for the third year in a row that there are serious problems in American society. Half of Americans can't afford a five hundred dollar emergency thats a problem that UBI fixes.

Considering how pedestrian our debates are, I doubt anything of substance will be said.
You may be right on this point.

If the tariffs were higher, companies would be forced to return production back to the US and hire US workers.  That's the whole point of economic tariffs, to return industry back to the homeland.  It's called economic nationalism.

What's your solution to get solid good paying jobs back into the US?

an idealistic (and too often called unrealistic) solution is to stop the unwritten human reliance on money. the earth provides for us. not the $

guess my question for US posters is something along the lines of
what do you most love about living in the US...

The land/nature/wilderness, that's really all that comes to mind.

I like that there's many different landscapes and lots of majestic places that reside within an area called the "USA" .

Same with California specifically...the only thing I like about this "state" is the diverse geography/landscapes and the climate.

I've never identified as being an "american", I've never felt any sort of connection to the flag or "nation"...The land/earth I was born on, yes, but being part of a "nation" just isn't a part of my identity or my perspective at all.

I've always felt standing and pledging an allegiance to a flag was the most silly thing ever, the flag has never meant a damn thing to me and from the first day I started school I despised doing it.....Things like the national anthem is pure cringe for me.

I mean I "get it"...I can understand being proud of where one comes from and one's heritage/culture...but personally I just don't really identify as being part of a "nation" ...Sure I'm technically an "american", but I don't have any sort of emotional attachment to that label, it doesn't really mean anything to me.
