Contamed?
    #25889588 -

Someone said this was contamed on my other post, but i cant see how its contamed. There are some discoulored specs through the surface but its just verm showing its coulor through the mycellium. and the edges / corners of tub have a lighter coulor due to dry substrate a bit.

To me and by all means I'm not an expert, but top right and bottom right have some yellowing which could be bacterial. Might be from pooling water due to condensation.

Not end of world if it is.

Yea i noticed a couple "yellowish" spots. Also it appears to be "yellowing:" in the spots that are a tad dry ( you can see very light coloured coir under mycellium)

well see what happenes. Pins are about to explode.

Ok. I actually thought it was a tad dry if anything. I am not misting at all.
In the corners of the sub and along edges it appears to be getting a tad dry with light coloured coir. Someone had suggested i pour a bit of water down the side to " bottom water it " . I will prob do that tonight.

What are some tell tale signs of the sub being to wet or to dry?

Well in the picture it looks like big beads of water all over the surface? I would not pour any water on it..its fine left until post 1st flush, like an iceberg, most of the water is below the surface locked up in the sub

I agree with you except the dry light coloured coir around the bottom holes makes me think its drying. I mean if you seem light brown coloured coir underneath the mycellium and water droplets ( around the sides and bottom holes) Is that not a clear indication of to dry? Like is the sub underneath still moist if you seem light coloured coir?

Im sure its fine and will bust out with pins and be decent any day. There are so many knots forming.

Mushrooms need a damp environment, they aren't aquatic, so too much water will cause it to rot and promotes bacterial growth..if you have knots and its still moving along leave it as is..once you have the 1st flush, then float the sub for an hour or so to re-hydrate

Ok. That was my thought as well. Just guna see how the 1st flush goes. Iv heard keeping things on the dry side is a bit better than staying on the to wet side.
Thanks for you advice. Im seeing pins today along sides mostly .

You might want to try and plastic liner next time..some people will say that its about keeping your conditions right, but I've grown many tuns with and without and the tubs with have many less side pins than the tubs without, so I'll take the liner every time!

You've got plenty of knots on the surface so should be pins soon

I have a liner in this bin. First time trying a liner. Still seeing lots of side pins. Oh well , it was worth a shot. It was such a hastle doing the liner i think im guna say fuck it from now on and just try to keep my surface conditions as good as possible.

Is this how you rehydrate between flushes? I feel like soaking a brick of coir in water will get WAY to soggy.  Just let it float or use weight to hold it submerged under the water?

Making a liner is as easy as getting s supermarket bag, cutting it in half and then putting it in the tub, put your grain and coir in and trim it up after..takes seconds..

And yes that;s how you re-hydrate..Remember than the coir is now a mix of mycelium and coir, so it does not waterlog like coir would
