Or people trust their direct fucking experience.

Bod how about you share your "scientific evidence" and you claim not many people report noticing differences yet how many people on this thread alone report exactly that?

Arrogant as fuck

Lol yep and where they come from. That's literally the only difference. The black market made up the whole indica and sativa lie.

Indica grows short and bushy and is from India. Sativa grows tall and thin and is from Africa.

That's my only point

There is a clear difference if u get ACTUAL sativas and ACTUAL indicas. When I smoke sativas I feel like I had too much coffee, racing heart and everything. Indicas do the total opposite to me, red eyed and sluggish. It's not in my head.

People who have been studying weed for years and years are more trustworthy than some potheads on some placebo trip from the black market

Luckily i have a specific "when people are pissing you off on the shroomery forum and you need to chill and relax" strain

Or maybe we discovered the difference for ourselves by smoking the shit. You think we read it ans said oh,yeah it does that. dude seriously. What a joke Bill.

Like mentioned, you're just on an ego trip and want to be right.

Ok provide this "people who have been studying weed for years" bullshit.

I really don't care what you think.

Just annoying as fuck when people say your experience is not true or is placebo when that is not at all fucking true.

It's arrogant and egotistical and disrespectful

The people that breed weed literally will tell you the distinction between indica and sativa doesn't really exist in the way you think it does. Genetically too.

Yea. Maybe he just reads too much about weed and it's clouding his actual experience. I've never read anything about the differences. Of course I've heard bullshit. But what I feel when I smoke different types of weed is not a placebo

Ok, the truth of the matter is that there is no evidence to support that one phenotype has a higher ratio of CBDA/CBG/CBA/THCA/THCV etc. compared to another.

It's all random, and strain name or physical characteristics of the plant will not dictate what cocktail of psychoactive compounds you'll get.

Just folklore that's been parroted for 50+ years. If you look at meta studies from cannabis analytical labs on reported names and terpene/cannabinoid content there is zero correlation.

You guys are embarrassing. So now I read too much about weed...yeah ok. I literally found this out yesterday on the internet and shared the link but you guys want to insist that indica gives a couchlock and sativa will have you cleaning your house.

Good luck with that.

On average, Cannabis indica has higher levels of THC compared to CBD, whereas Cannabis sativa has lower levels of THC to CBD.
However, huge variability exists within either species. A 2015 study shows the average THC content of the most popular herbal cannabis products in the Netherlands has decreased slightly since 2005.

In the recent era of cannabis breeding higher-ratio CBD strains are being developed from Indica origins that may test out as 1:1 (CBD-THC balanced) or even as high as a 22:1 (CBD dominant).
The medical interests in Cannabis are taking this further and we will see increasing cultivation trends for more strains developed with CBD-dominant ratios. In California, cities such as Coachella and Desert Hot Springs are re-zoning areas for cannabis cultivation.
Even though Californians legalized recreational use of cannabis in late 2016, the LA Times, prior to the vote, reported an entrepreneurial focus on CBD-dominant medical hemp crops, "The demand for medical products was so high, this [380,000-square-foot (35,000 m2) cultivation expansion] was just to fill the need for that."
Low anxiety and hallucinogenic properties (psychoactive effects of THC reduced by CBD)[18] make these "high-CBD strains" very desirable for chronic treatment programs.

There are three chemotaxonomic types of Cannabis: one with high levels of THC, one which is more fibrous and has higher levels of CBD, and one that is an intermediate between the two.

Cannabis strains with CBD:THC ratios above 5:2 are likely to be more relaxing and produce less anxiety than vice versa.
This may be due to CBD's antagonistic effects at the cannabinoid receptors, compared to THC's partial agonist effect.[citation needed][dubious – discuss] CBD is also a 5-HT1A receptor (serotonin) agonist, which may also contribute to an anxiolytic-content effect.

The effects of sativa are well known for its cerebral high. Users can expect a more vivid and uplifting high, while indica is well known for its sedative effects which some prefer for night time use.
Indica possesses a more calming, soothing, and numbing experience in which can be used to relax or relieve pain. Both types are used as medical cannabis.

What's wrong with that? :strokebeard:

This correlates with my experiences so far.

My understanding from everything I've read and heard is that there is no genetic test to figure the ratio of sativa/indica in a strain, so the label itself is literally made up.

That said, it's based on what people who smoked the strain in the past reported feeling, so there may very well be a certain chemical makeup that makes people feel more energized or tired, head high or body high etc, that are the basis for the label. Things can vary so much though unless you're getting it from one grower that keeps things extremely uniform.

I think there's really just a lack of research, so no one knows for sure. Personal experience is just way too subjective to be used with topics like this, you can change the color of a soda label and people will tell you it tastes different and makes them feel different even if it's the one they've been drinking for years.

Is that a Wikipedia copy paste or from a publication? If it's from a paper I'd like to see it.

Not arguing that different ratios of cannabinoids have distinct effects, just that the connection between strain names and plant morphology have little to do with it.
