 Mescaline extraction, from cactus to tan HCl powder   8

Hi there,
this is a quick pictorial on how to extract mescaline, along with the other cactus alkaloids, for proper dosing and almost nausea free ingestion.
The procedure is the following:
- Chop up and boil your cactus for several hours.
- Repeat boiling a few times, like three times for two hours each minimum, with fresh water each time.
- Collect the liquids from each boil and reduce to a smaller ammount. Add some vinegar or citric acid, to make the solution acidic.
- Defat with xylole two times, till the solvent remains clear (optional).
- Base with lye till it's highly basic & stirr well. Let sit for a few hours to freebase all the alkaloids.
- Extract with xylole three times.
- Wash the xylole with basic water till the water remains clear (optional).
- Salt out the alkaloids with water and a few drops of diluted HCl.
- Repeat salting with fresh water and HCl two times.
- Let the water with the HCl evaporate completly, a brown residue should appear.
- Wash this with acetone a few times, till the acetone remains clear.
- Re-x by dissolving again in a splash of plain water and leave to dry slowly. This is optional, just to get an impression of the crystals and purity.
- Scape it up and enjoy.

I used like 7 feet of different cacti, in two big pots.
Defatting with xylole till the solvent remains clear.

Washing with basic water will the water remains clear.

Salting the solvent with acidic water (HCl).
 . 
Leave to dry to get a brown residue.
Wash with acetone several times, till the acetone remains clear.
 . 
Dry and store in a glass vial. Optionally dissolve again in water, then let dry again slowly to get some nice crystals.
7 thin feet of cactus led to 1.2g of alkaloids as HCl salt.

Nice. Is xylole expensive, cant find it anywhere in my hardware store. Can you use cleaning petrol?

Cleaning petrol.. I don't know what it's made up with. If it's mainly naphtha or petroleum-ether it won't work well, as mecaline is hardly soluble in naphtha, if at all.
Xylole is often the main ingredient of paint thinner (like nitro diluent). Check some brands out, see the ingredients, if it's mainly xylole then it should work.

It can vary quite a bit depending on thickness of the cactus and potency of the specific cuttings used.

Yes, they were thin cuttings. It's roughly 200mg per cutting, and that's pretty much an average ammount. I cleaned it up with acetone also.
And remember it is the HCl salt, which is the most potent. With suphuric or citric acid the yield would be like 50% bigger, but also less potent.
350mg of that gave me a nice medium trip, with obvious visuals comparable to ~125mics of acid. So it's not 100% pure.
350mg of pure mescaline HCl should be a bit more powerfull I guess.
